Chapter 22 - A Not So Happy Reunion

When they were almost there to the mountains 'where Sonic was spotted' Knuckles looks down as he thought, "I have a bad feeling about this. Not sure why." The mountain was extra snowy than usual. The snow was furiously pouring down like rain, the clouds were as dark as the rain clouds in a hurricane season, and it was extra cold. Amy complained as she shook like a leaf in the cold, "Oh. This is as cold as ever. The mountains were never this cold." They then heard a roar from a far off distant. Sticks asked in fright, "Wh-What was that?" Tails uses his tracking device as he looks to see something big about 59 feet away. He then said, "It's about 59 feet away from us b..." he trailed off as a blue dot appeared in front of who or what was 59 feet away from them. Tails then said, "There's a blue dot." The group gasped as Knuckles said, "That must be Sonic! We haft to find him." He was gonna run but Tails stopped him and said, "Whoa Knuckles don't!" The roar was heard once again as the gang shook. Amy then suggested as she got her hammer out, "Let's check out what that roar came from." Before they took a step gunshots were heard. Sticks got spooked as she jumped into Amy's arms and asked, "WHAT WAS THAT?!" Tails simply said, "Gunshots!" Knuckles then said, "Someone is really putting up a good fight. Let's go." They ran to the direction of the roar as the snow started to pour heavier. That's when they heard the roar but this time it was a loud and painful roar. It was nearby as Amy said while looking around, "Its close but the snow is getting thick." Thats when Tails sees a bright blue light in front of him as he said, "Quick follow the light!" The group walked to the light before it faded. Knuckles asked, "where did it go?" The snow fall was starting to die down a bit as the four friends looked to see it was a snow beast. A dead snow beast. Tails gasped slowly as Knuckles looks around to see no one around. Amy then said, "Huh? It's dead." She sees the gashes and gunshots on its chest and also a leg sliced off and burned. Tails then looked at the device and said, " this is where the roar came from. No doubt this snow beast is the one who was roaring." Amy asked, "Then what were the gunshots from?" Knuckles looked around as he thought, "He should be here. He has to be. He was spotted here." Sticks then asked while looking at the dead beast before them, "Who slayed this monster?" A familiar voice said coldly in their surprised, "I did." The four turned to see no one but that's when they see someone walk out of a pile of snow. To their surprise it was Sonic looking at them coldly. He was covered in the multicolored patterns he gained from fighting and a bright blue pattern on his right eye. He was wearing a cloak instead of his scarf. Knuckles shouted Sonics name as he and the other three run to him. Before giving him a hug they were stopped by Sonic putting a hand in front of them. He said coldly, "Before you try to kill me again. This isn't the Sonic you once knew." He then made a short neon pink knife in his left arm. Sonic then said coldly, "You try to kill me." He glared at his 'friends (who were looking at him in fright)' and said, "Now it's my turn." Knuckles eyes widened and squeaked, "Oh no.." The blue hedgehog then glared at the two girls before the bright blue pattern on his right eye glowed and Sonic blew ice breath that caused both the girls to collapse from the cold. Sonic glared at Knuckles and muttered, "Murderer." Thats when Sonic stabbed Knuckles in the chest with the knife as he said coldly, "Your kind ruined me! You and the Noctrunus will suffer from my hand..." He then stab him again as Knuckles gasped in fright in tears. Sonic finished his sentence, "...I will avenge the ones I care about and my sister. Your kind will be on their knees begging for mercy." He then stabbed him again. Knuckles collapsed onto the snow. Then Sonic looked at the terrified fox. Tails then fell on his knees as Sonic raised his knife but he felt like he froze and shook. He grabbed the fox's neck and did it once again but he froze once again. Tails in tears and scared as he said, "S-Sonic.. Please I'm sorry. I didn't mean for it to go that far. I didn't think it would hurt you. Please g-give me a chance. Pl-please forgive me. I-I'll make it up to you. You are my best friend and I should never have did that to you." Sonic felt hesitant but he realized the reason he froze cause he couldn't bring himself to hurt Tails. He was his best friend and a brother to him. He can see the fear and regret in his eyes. The knife disappeared as Sonic looked away and let go of the yellow Fox. Sonic then said coldly, "Fine. Your spared. For now. But your coming with me. Don't ever do that again or else." Tails felt relieved but he had to follow Sonic 'who was walking away' Tails looked at his freinds and mumbled, "I'm sorry guys. Sonic is my best friend and I can't betray him again." Sonic yelled out, "HURRY UP I GOTTA GET BACK!" Tails obeyed and caught up with Sonic as they exited the mountains. Tails eyed at the patterns on Sonics body. The blue hedgehog immediately noticed and asked coldly, " What are you looking at?" Tails took the blue hedgehogs arm and asked, " what happened to you? Who did this?" Sonic looked at the patterns and said as they continued walking, "Don't be such a worried wort. These are not scars. They're patterns." Tails asked, "Patterns? To what?" Sonic then said, " I'll explain later but right now we need to get back to EverBrave village."
