The next morning, as usual, Bondita went to the RC haveli for the morning aarti, but this morning, Anirudh was not present. She completed the aarti, but her eyes kept searching for her love. This did not go unnoticed by Som, who came near her and whispered in her ear.
"Dada ko dhundh rahi ho?"
(Are you looking for Dada?)
Bondita nodded in reply. Som told her that he had gone for some work. Soon, Binoy joined them, having returned from Calcutta after a business trip.
Bondita touched his feet. "Namaste uncle."
"Hello beta. Kaisi ho tum?" Binoy greeted her.
"Main thik hu uncle, aap kaise hain?"
(I'm fine, uncle. How are you?)
"Main bhi accha hu aur ab se tum mujhe uncle nahi baba bulaogi," he said.
(I'm also good, and from now on, you will call me Baba, not uncle)
"Par uncle, main kaise? Matlab..."
(But uncle, how can I? I mean...)
Binoy cut her off, saying, "Jab daa ko kaka bulati ho, toh mujhe baba bulane mein kya harz hai?"
(When you call Dada 'Kaka', then what's the harm in calling me 'Baba'?)
"Par..." (But...)
"Waise bhi shaadi ke baad toh bulana padega na? Phir abhi se bula lo," (Besides, after marriage, you'll have to call me that anyway. So start now) he said with a smirk.
Bondita's face turned red, and she looked down, blushing. "Sha...shaadi ma...main kuch samj..."
She was interrupted by Kaka, "Samji nahi ya nasamajhne ka dikhawa kar rahi ho? Hum samajhte bhi hai aur sab pata bhi hai," he laughed.
(You didn't understand, or are you pretending not to understand? We understand everything)
"Tumhari aur Anirudh ki shaadi ke baad..."
(After your marriage with Anirudh...)
His words made her blush even more, and she looked down due to shyness.
"...toh baba kehna hi padega na Binoy ko,"
(Then you will have to call Binoy 'Baba' after the wedding)
Bondita didn't answer; she kept gazing at the floor as if it were the most amazing thing in the world.
"Bolo Bondita, mujhe nahi baba bulaogi na?"
(Say, Bondita, you will call me Baba, right?)
"Ji baba," she smiled at him, and so did he.
Meanwhile, Trilochan Kaka was thinking about something.
"Waise Bondita, kyun na Anirudh ke sath khel khala jaye?" he asked her.
(By the way, Bondita, how about playing a prank on Anirudh?)
"Kaise khel, Kaka?" Bondita asked, giving him a confused look.
(What kind of prank, Kaka?)
"Bas Anirudh ke sath chota sa mazak karna hai. Hum usse kahenge ki humne uska vivaah kisi aur se tay kar diya hai..."
(We just have to play a small prank on Anirudh. We will tell him that we have arranged his marriage with someone else...)
But Bondita interrupted him, "Nahi Kaka, yeh mazak nahi hai! Unhe bura lagega. Humein kisi ke sath aisa mazak nahi karna chahiye jisse samne wale ko thes pahunche."
