"Master?" Ahsoka said into her comlink.
"What is it, Snips?"
"Anything on the agenda today?"
"Well, I've got a meeting with Rex and Master Kenobi about introducing a new battle formation to the clones, but I think that's it." Ahsoka smiled.
"No missions or anything?"
"Not that I know of, but stay at the ready in case there's an emergency. I suggest you practice your triple flip; remember what happened on that Separatist cruiser?"Ahsoka cringed at the memory.
"Don't remind me, Skyguy. And hey, you risk our lives more than that flip did."
"Nuh-uh!" Anakin retorted.
"Yuh-huh!" Ahsoka could practically hear Anakin rolling his eyes as the comlink clicked off.
Now that she knew her day was free, Ahsoka walked along the halls of the Jedi Temple in an attempt to look inconspicuous. She finally reached the library of the Temple, where Barriss was waiting for her.
"Ahsoka!" she cried. "Why won't you tell me what your plan i-"
"Shush. You'll find out soon enough." Barriss looked extremely nervous.
"Ahsoka, I feel bad not telling Master Luminara about this. We'll get in trouble! What if we lose our ranks as Padawans?"
"You don't even know what we're doing-"
"That's my point!" Barriss interrupted.
"-and it's not going to get us in trouble," Ahsoka finished. "And besides, Master Luminara knows you're with me. That's all she needs to know, right?"
"I guess..."
"Now come on." Ahsoka grabbed Barriss's thin hand and tugged her down the many-pillared hall; Barriss grinned, and her nerves seemed to be fading, until Ahsoka pushed open one of the Temple's wide windows, carefully climbed out onto the sill, and motioned for Barriss to follow suit.
"Ahsoka! You said this plan wasn't going to get us in trouble!"
"It won't. We're not breaking any rules."
"Yes, but don't you think two Padawans climbing out the window of the Jedi Temple would look a bit suspicious?" Barriss said frantically, waving her arms around to ineffectively prove her point.
"I guess... when you put it that way..." Ahsoka said sarcastically, toying with Barriss. "Obviously we're doing this! You need to loosen up a bit, Bair."
"Bair-?"
"Now come on!" Ahsoka said, brushing over the nickname that had accidentally slipped from her mouth. Barriss sighed and daintily slipped out of the window besides Ahsoka.
"I don't know why I'm doing this. You know, you're the only person I'd do this for, Ahsoka. We are going to be in so much trouble..." Barriss rambled on, but Ahsoka stopped listening at one line. You know, you're the only person I'd do this for, Ahsoka. Ahsoka blushed and grinned.
"Follow me," she said, trying to make her glee less obvious.
"Oh... oh..." Barriss muttered nervously, wringing her hands. Ahsoka carefully climbed up the windowsills, hurrying over a window looking in on two Jedi Younglings watching the climbing Padawans in shock. Finally, Ahsoka helped Barriss up from the last windowsill and onto the roof of the Jedi Temple.
"Woah..." Barriss gasped.
"I know, right?" From up there, you could see the great, glimmering city of Coruscant stretching out in every direction. Civilians zooming by on speeders looked as if they could fit into Ahsoka's lightsaber holster, and the distant horizon was lit up by the city lights, even in such broad daylight.
"It's... beautiful," Barriss said. "I feel as if I was at the top of the world, yet I also feel so small..." As Barriss gazed off into the beauty of Coruscant, Ahsoka watched her with a gorgeous smile lighting up her face. In her opinion, Barriss was more beautiful than any expanse of glittering city.
