We went inside to find droid parts all over the place... but they weren't the droids I was used to. "These are some... weird droids..." I said, looking around the floor.
"Droids? These are robots. It looks like someone got here before us. It's what I've feared. Look at the evidence... not a single drop of blood or ammunition casing anywhere. These robots were assaulted by Institute synths." He said.
"What are synths?"
"Robotic humans who are never meant to exist. Technology run amok..." He said. "We better stay alert. Follow me."
I thought of synths as protocol droids or something when we came into a locked door.
"Locked. See if you can open it somehow. I'll stay on watch."
I saw some computers nearby. They required some sort of password and I used the force to hack it and open the door. Suddenly, what I thought were the synths Danse was talking about came out of the room and attacked us. Luckily the different kinds of blasters they all had could be deflected off of my lightsaber. Soon, they were all dead.
"What is that thing you're using?" Danse said, surprised at what I could do.
"It's a lightsaber." I answered, not saying anymore. We came until the blast room as Danse called it. I didn't expect the place would be so far behind on technology. We came across a powered down elevator and Danse said we had to go down instead of up for now. "Wait! I - I can power it up."
"From here?" Danse was confused.
"Yes. Just stay watch, ok?" I said. I didn't exactly want him watching me work but he did anyway. I closed my eyes and I flipped the circuit board switch from where I was standing. The elevator lightened up and opened in front of me.
"How - " Danse stuttered.
"Let's go." I said quickly, walking into the elevator with Danse. He seemed uncomfortable with the little space we had with his armor but I didn't mind. We got to the top of the ride and were immediately confronted by synths. I dashed into the room and slashed all the synths there with Danse barely able to fire a shot when I used the Force to disable the last synth.
"You have to tell me about what you are doing!" He said.
"I'm using the Force. All Jed- The thing we're looking for should be here soon... maybe the synths wanted it too." I said before I could finish my explanation. I looked around and saw it laying on the ground next to one of the synths. "Here it is! Let's get out of here." Danse and I went into another elevator to the surface and met outside the bunker we exited from.
"Well... that could've gone smoother but... mission complete." Danse said.
"Smoother? We did a good job back there." I protested.
"You're right. We had saved a lot of time by you... using the Force" He said, still confused about me. "Listen. We had a lot thrown at us back there... so I'd like to have some matters to be discussed with you. Firstly, if you'd hand me the transmitter, I'd like you to take this gun. It's a standard Brotherhood laser rifle but with my own modifications to it. May it serve you well in battle besides your lightsaber. Secondly, I'd like to make you a proposal."
I was a bit confused about what he said by proposal but I accepted the gun and put it in my satchel while giving Danse the "transmitter."
"You have good combat skills and have a seemingly good amount of intelligence... you can either wander around the Commonwealth, doing deeds for a meager reward... or you can join the Brotherhood of Steel and make a mark on this world."
"Join?" I asked, not sure if they were exactly "good people" or not. I used the Force really quick and it said the same thing about doing what you feel is right. I guess I could give it a try. "Alright. I'll join." I said.
"Outstanding. Meet me back at the police station and we can start immediately." Danse said, walking away.
