Happily Never after: Ulric X Reader

Chapter 15

A/n: this part doesn't really have to do with the plot itself. It's basically just Ulric's love letter to y/n so if you don't want to read it it's fine. If you do decide to skip it I suggest you read what's not in italics at the end so you get an idea of what's going on.

Your POV

I take out the letter from the envelope and unfold the paper. I have no idea what this could be about. I take a deep breath, preparing myself for anything, and read,

Dear Y/n,
Y'know originally before Rascal got involved, I planned on confessing my love for you through a letter. It seemed like the easiest way to me at the time so I decided it was the way to go. Well, silly me had no idea how hard it is to convey feelings into words on paper. I tried over and over again but I wasn't satisfied with anything. It doesn't help that ink is permanent. I probably wasted at least three trees worth of paper... So yeah. That's why I didn't want you going into my room. I was in the process of writing you a confession and didn't want you seeing anything. I guess it's sorta better this way that we verbally told each other how we feel.
Anyways, you already know how I feel so there's no use in telling you all that background stuff. I wanted to tell you something. Uh, what do they call it... uhhh... I think it's called professing your love to someone? I don't know. Anyways that's what I wanted to do in this letter. Guess what? Professing your love to someone is a lot easier than confessing your love. All you need to do is tell your loved one the truth, and that's pretty easy. Alright, with that said here I go. (I really really hope this isn't cheesy or anything. I worked really hard on this so if it is don't tell me. I don't wanna know....)
Ok y/n, our circumstances for this whole relationship thing really suck. We've got me who's a rebelling servant of an evil lord, you whose a good guy fighting against said evil lord, friends who are also good guys, and a really bad guy (Rascal) who wants to terminate us for being in love. On top of all that I'm a wolf person. It's hard to follow you around everywhere given my appearance and my reputation. But even with all that, I'm trying. I'm really really trying to be with you no matter what is thrown at us. I've had close to no friendships let alone any relationships, so when I found out you felt the same way towards me, I wanted to cling onto you right then and there and never ever let go. I've never had anyone in my life who has ever cared for me like you have, so it would make sense I would want to do that. However that wasn't the case. I got scared and nervous that it wouldn't work out in the end. A lot of 'what if's' ran through my head and I was constantly acting like a flustered dork around you and embarrassing myself. Maybe I still am. The point here is that you were able to prove all my worrying wrong. You've been extremely loyal and patient through all my stuttering and nervousness. I really appreciate you for that, y/n. I really do. So in return I'm going to give you my loyalty as well.
I have no idea how this is all going to end. For all my life all I've known are unhappy endings. But for the first time ever, I'm finally wishing for a happy ending. That's because of you. I have no idea how you're supposed to get a happy ending, but I have a feeling it's going to come by staying with you. I'm going to continue trying my absolute best to protect you and stay by your side. Even if it means facing Rascal's wrath and betraying everyone and everything in the Shadow Realm. I'm willing to give up everything for you in order to stay with you. That's all I want y/n, your love and affection. That's all I need to be happy, and I hope you will be willing to give it to me.
With all that said, I hope you believe me. I hope you believe everything I said. Because they are the most truthful words I have ever said in my entire life. Remember them, ok? I love you, y/n.

     I wanted to cry. Actually I think I might have shed a tear or two. I don't think anyone has ever given me anything so meaningful before. It means so much to me knowing how much Ulric cares.
     "As soon as we get back to the Library of Legends I'm going to tell him that I do believe him. I will also do my best to stay by his side." I whisper.
     I take another deep breath before folding the letter back up and putting it back in it's envelope.
"Hey, y/n! Are ya done yet? We're gonna go bring Candy the elixir now!" Kelsey called.
Perfect timing, I thought.
I put the letter in my pocket and run over to the group, "Yeah I'm ready."
Pop stood up, holding the elixir bottle in his hands, "Alright girls, back into the storybook! We return to the Library of Legends!"
We all wearily obey as we brace ourselves for another bumpy ride.
