FLASHBACK

Steven had been dreaming; they were all old and some were unpleasant to be recalled.

Sometimes he dreamt of him saving the universe again and again that it felt like nothing new happened, he was so used to the feeling of hardship that he's starting to get restless at nights; some nights, he would wake up screaming, sweating and at times were crying, it scares him; and at some times, he would just be paralyzed on his bed while panting heavily.

Those were his normal dreams, nightmares or bad dreams you could call it, Steven was used to it.

But what he couldn't get used to was when the dreams were about you.

At first, it was bearable since he would enjoy the moment, but up till recently he couldn't get a blink of sleep because of those dreams; the dreams felt so real that his body unconsciously hugged a pillow tightly, thinking that it was you who he's hugging.

After almost a month of staying away and keep the wide distance, he started to feel himself fading; the smiles he usually had turned to a straight line, his brightened eyes could only be seen as dull, his bright skins starting to paling and let himself turn white, and he wasn't feeding himself as much either.

Steven would mourn at night, bawling his eyes out and let out an inhuman scream on his pillow, his body shook at the lack of warmth as his skinny self ached at the changes of sleeping position.

He gotta admit it, he misses you a lot, but he knew you wouldn't come back into his arms anytime soon.

That's why he planned a hangout with Peridot; just a poor excuse to escape his miserable self, he was glad that Peridot agreed to reschedule to fit the hangout inside her hectic life.

Steven would cancel the sleepover but he couldn't bear to think about you any longer; he misses you a lot, and it was killing him slowly.

Steven could barely hang himself around to spend time by himself, so he did the only thing that comes into his mind; he went inside his mother's room.

It was still cloudy per usual, still in the never-ending pink colours surrounding the room, Steven sighed as the door closed behind him.

'It's been a while...' Steven thought.

Steven formed a fake smile, looking around the room. "Hey, room. It's me, Steven. It's been a while, do you miss me?" he poorly greeted.

And as he expected, he was greeted back with silence.

Steven hummed, plopping his hands awkwardly on the side of his thighs. "Um... May- Can I see my mom? I need some advice from her."

The room stayed silent.

Steven gulped. "It's about (Y/N)."

Almost instantly, the room's clouds began to fly around, Steven didn't say anything and only watched the scene unfold while hugging himself; the clouds were getting bigger and bigger, slowly forming his mother with those pink cotton.

And in a flesh, his mother was in sight, making Steven's breaths hitched at the sight; his mother wasn't on the portrait, he knew she wasn't real, but he couldn't help but having his heart hammering against his ribcages.
