ELEGANTÉ CRYSTALS HEADQUARTERS, CENTRAL AREA, ABUJA."Here's your coffee, sir" came Fa'iza's voice as she kept the medium sized teal blue colored ceramic mug on the sleek oak table in front of Hafeez.
"Thank you" he muttered, not taking his eyes off the screen of his MacBook Pro "has Sadiq checked in yet?" He asked her, referring to Sadiq Shagari, his best friend who works as the managing director of the successful jewelry company.
"Not yet sir, but I'm sure he's on his way" she replied.
"Alright, when he does, let him know that I want to see him, urgently!" He instructed, to which she nodded.
"Okay sir" She said "anything else?"
"Yes! The sketches, I will need them by 10:30 for the meeting today" he said.
"I've finished them up sir, I just took them downstairs for Mary to print them out, or should I send the rough work to your email?"
"No no there's no need for that, just make sure I see the printouts on my table by 10:30" he instructed.
"Okay sir"
"You May leave"
"Thank you, sir" she nodded respectfully before walking out of the office. Letting him get back to his work in peace, just the way he likes it, but unfortunately that day wasn't one of the days where peace had a place to stay in his life.
Just As he had finished reading the 22nd email, his office door bursted open and in walked that familiar strong scent, it doesn't take a genius to connect the dots, especially hafeez as he has mastered that scent for the past 5 years.
"Layla..." he sighed, looking up slowly to meet her eyes, and just like always, they had anger and trouble in them "why did you burst into my office like that?"
"Am I not allowed to see you whenever I want to?" She snapped, raising an eyebrow.
"Not when I'm working, and I've told you that many times" he said.
"Well, it was urgent and I couldn't wait so," She took a deep breath and took a seat on the table, not even the chairs, the table, just to show how ratchet and reggae she is. She closed the MacBook that was in-front of him and kept it aside before turning around to get his full attention.
That's Layla barde, daughter to a senator in katsina state, rude, shameless, arrogant and bratty are the perfect words to describe her, thanks to her mother who spoiled her rotten in the name of her being the only child.
"someone humiliated me at the mall yesterday" she started.
"Who?" He asked, already bored of the conversation.
"Oriflame's brand ambassador and lead actress in that TV series that airs on Africa magic family..." she snapped her fingers multiple times, trying to remember the name "a Mary holiday!"
"I don't watch that nor do I rub cream on my face so how am I supposed to know her?" he sighed.
She hissed "you're very boring wallahi"
"I know. Can I get back to my work now?"
"Not until I finish my story" she said "so, this girl bumped into me and......" she started pouring like a loose faucet while Hafeez was just staring at her, not hearing a single word apart from the first few ones he Managed to pick up.
"No way! She really did that?" He tried to be as enthusiastic as possible, even though if you put him at gun point he won't be able to repeat anything Layla had just said, but oh well, anything for girlfriend dearest.
