From Another Time

Chapter 10

We walked into Tony's lab where another man was working.

"Thor you're here great!" The man said as he came to greet us, then of course he spotted Loki. "Oh, and you brought him."

"Dr. Banner, a pleasure to see you again. This is my sister Y/n. She requested Loki come along and he's promised to harm no one while he's here." Dr. Banner gave him a confused look. "Ok I know it seems shocking but he does keep his word for her and her alone."

Dr. Banner came to shake my hand. "Hi, I'm Bruce, a pleasure to meet you." He smiled as he leaned in and whispered. "You sure he'll listen to you?"

"I swear it, Doctor" I smiled back and shook his hand before he went back to work.

"Y/n, come this way I'll introduce you to my friend," Natasha called for me. We walked off to the elevator as she took us to a lower floor. "He's sitting in the kitchen right now but I'm sure you'll love talking to him. He's a soldier from 70 years ago but was frozen in time causing him to not even age. He'll be happy to share his experiences with you and I'm sure he'll be even happier to have someone that can share them in return."

"Wow, that's amazing that he survived that!" I said. A man from the time I knew still alive and young many years later. Sounded almost like a dream come true, there was only one thing that could make it better.

"I mean it helps that he was injected with this experimental super-soldier serum. He's 10x as strong as he was before the serum." She explained.

The elevator doors opened and we saw a man at the table, facing his back towards us. She pulled my arm along towards him.

"This is Captain America." She began as he turned around. "Cap this is-"

"Y/n?" The man interrupted her. I looked at him and to my surprise saw a very familiar face.

"Steve?" My face lit up. "You're the soldier that was frozen in time?!"

"I- I don't understand. I thought you would've been dead." He questioned.

"And I thought you were small." I laughed.

"Wait so you guys know each other?" Natasha asked.

"Yeah, we were good friends in the 40s. She was dating my best friend." He explained. My heart fluttered at the thought of my love, with new excitement and hope for him.

"Bucky! Is he alive too?! Did he become a super soldier?" I asked.

"I'm so sorry Y/n." Steve started as his head dropped. "Shortly after you had disappeared we were on a mission. We were on a train and he fell off. I'm so sorry." I sat in silence for a moment. "He really did love you."

I smiled at him. "Which reminds me," Steve reached into his pocket and pulled a few things out. I saw a picture of Bucky and a pocket watch. He reached again then put the other two items away. "This was for you. He asked me to hold it for him shortly before he died. I've kept it with me ever since." Steve handed me a small ring which I added to my chain with the locket. "He was planning to propose to you that morning he had to leave but you had disappeared."

"Thank you, Steve. This means a lot." I hugged him.

Loki walked in while Steve and I were still hugging, mourning our lost one. "Y/n dear, as much as I want you to find your love, Bucky, this better not be him." Loki joked.

"No brother." I laughed. "But he was Bucky's best friend. I was right, my Bucky is gone."

"Hold on, Loki is your brother?!" Steve yelled in shock. "Like your full brother?"

"No Steve." I laughed. "Thor is my full brother, Loki is my adopted brother, don't worry though he's promised me he won't harm anyone while he's here."

"What all haven't you told Bucky?" He asked.

"Well my name is the same but I am not some girl from a small town here on Midgard. I am a goddess. The Goddess of earth and nature to be exact." I explained. "I am from Asgard and was keeping my lives separate for everyone's safety."

"So that's how you're still alive then." It was as if he only just put that together, I thought my armor had given it away.

"Gather up people we gotta discuss a game plan." Tony announced.
