From Another Time

Chapter 11

"We need to infiltrate Hydra and wipe some old files with my father's weaponry research on it. It's too dangerous for anyone to have but especially Hydra." Stark explained. "Natasha you will have the flash drive, you know what to do. Thor you and I will stand guard on the west side of the building and you can do your fancy party trick with the hammer. Cap since you and Y/n know each other well you'll handle the east side. I hear she can do some fun branch growy stuff, and there's a better opportunity for it on that side. Any questions?"

"Yes, sorry, where will I be in all of this?" Loki questioned.

"Unfortunately I'm on babysit the psycho mass murderer duty. Meaning you'll stand in the jet with me unless they call code green." Dr. Banner explained.

"Alright. Suit up, team." Tony declared.

As I was already in my armor I didn't need to suit up. I looked down at the ring Steve gave me from Bucky. It broke my heart knowing I could've married him, knowing he thought I had left with no explanation. Steve was done getting ready so I followed him onto the jet. We sat by each other in silence for a moment. I knew we were both thinking of the same thing at this point.

"It broke his heart you know." Steve let out. "When you had gone. I assumed you left or you got in trouble with your brothers. He made plans to go searching for you. He was going to start once we finished the war but unfortunately, he never got to fulfill that wish." I remained silent for a moment. "Why did you disappear? I mean we had a few assumptions but I had always wished Bucky at least knew where you were before he had gone."

"That night he told me he joined the army when he said he was going to war" I paused and took a deep breath. Thinking back on this began to make me emotional. "The time he and I spent that night enjoying each other, it was the best night of my life. When I returned home my father was already waiting for me. He was upset that I left without my brother's protection, even more upset that I had fallen in love with a mortal. My father forbade my return to Midgard and forbade Heimdall to inform me of Bucky. It broke me."

Steve put his arm around me. "He knew you loved him Y/n. Don't forget that."

I smiled at him. "I know." I sighed. "I just wish we could've had the life he and I dreamed of having together."

Once everybody boarded the jet we sent off to the Hydra base and all of us were given earpieces to communicate. Tony, Thor, and Natasha all dropped on the west side of the building allowing Natasha to get in with Tony and Thor as her backup. Almost immediately after they touched the ground the Hydra base alarm went off announcing our intrusion. It seemed they expected us. Once Steve and I landed on the east side there were guards ready to fight.

I stuck to the knives for a while when more guards came out. "Steve get down." He dropped to the floor just as I brought a branch from the trees behind us and swept out a group of 4 guards that were coming towards him.

"Thanks." He said, I nodded back to him.

The guards seemed to be thinning out and coming close to an end. We continued fighting when we heard someone over the Hydra loudspeaker.

"Release the weapon."
