"So girls, did you make any friends today?"
"Yeah mum, Michelle got a little boyfriend."
"Shut up Jude," I whispered under her breath.
"Boyfriend?"
"He's just a friend mum. I accidentally broke his guitar today so we're going out later today to go get him a new one. Not a big deal."
"If you say so." Mum smiled and walked into the kitchen.
"Why would you tell mum about Paul?" I uttered while hitting Jude.
"I thought it'd be funny. And it was." Jude gave me a smirk and walked into her room.
"It wasn't funny," I whispered to myself.
At 5 o'clock Paul showed up at my door step so we could go guitar shopping.
"I believe ye owe me a new guitar," he smiled.
"I believe I do." We smiled and began to walk to the guitar shop. "Is this it?"
"Yeah, its where I got my last one. Only shop that sells guitars to left handed people like myself," he smiled like it was a big deal to be left handed; I rolled my eyes and let out a chuckle.
"Pick anyone ye want. Don't worry about the price."
"Ye don't have to do this."
"If I don't then I'll feel bad. Just pick one." We smiled and Paul began to look around the shop. "Paul, what about this one?" I picked a beautiful bass off the wall. It was abnormally shaped but it had a great sound.
"Its beautiful!" He took it and began to play.
"Wow, yer alright."
"Alright?!" He sounded surprised.
"Alright, yer the best damn bass player in the whole world. Better?"
"Yes."
"He'll take this one."
"Good choice, that'll be 10 pounds."
"10 pounds! Michelle you don't have to pay for it. It's quite alright."
"No, I insist." I took 10 pounds out of my purse and gave it to the lady.
"Thanks, come again Paulie," she winked at him.
"Don't worry Lucy, I will," Paul replied.
"I'm gonna hold ye to that Paul. Have a nice day you two."
"Ta!" I replied.
"Ta? What does that mean?" Lucy chuckled.
"Ta. It means thanks a lot." I said.
"Ah, just wonderin. That George kid says it a lot."
"The freshman?" Paul asked.
"Yeah, he's friends with my brother."
"He's a freshman?" I asked, "my sisters a freshman, she's looking for a boyfriend. Do you think this George kid will be interested?"
"I'm not sure, I'll tell my brother to ask."
"Thank ye Lucy."
"Ah, don't worry bout it. Its for family." She gave me a smile. "Hey, are you new? I've never seen ye before?"
"Yeah, I just moved here from Blackpool."
"Rock n' Roll. Well, ye should get goin, shop closes soon."
"Yeah Michelle, I'll walk ye home."
"Thank ye Paul."
"Don't mention it."
"Bye Paulie. Nice mettin ye Michelle," Lucy waved goodbye.
"Nice mettin ye too," I said as we walked out of the shop. "She's nice, is that yer girlfriend?"
"Nah, just an old friend. It's about 6 o'clock, wanna stop for a bite?"
"I'd like that, thank ye." We walked into a diner; Elvis was playing and there was a kid and his mom singing by the jukebox.
"Who's that?" I asked
"Oh, I'm not sure," Paul replied.
The kid walked over, leaned on the table, blocking my view of Paul.
"May I help ye?" I asked. He kept staring at me with a big smile on his face; he finally spoke.
"Do ye know what Rock n' Rolls about?" he asked me while putting a fag in his mouth.
"No."
"Sex." He replied. "I'm John." He stuck out his hand to introduce himself.
"Michelle." I twisted my face and refused to shake his hand.
He waited for me to shake his hand; eventually he gave up and got up from the table.
"Well, see ye in school Michelle," he winked and walked back over to the jukebox.
"See ye."
