TOGETHER AGAIN [levi ackerman x reader]

Break Out

"Why are we meeting with the MPs?" Eren said suddenly, breaking the silence in the carriage ride.

We looked at each other, all confused, hoping someone knows the answer. The thing was, I did not mind nor care about why we were going to see the MPs. I took it as a chance to see Jean since I haven't seen him in a very long time. 

 "So, I heard we're going because the king wants the Survey Corps to meet the Military Police. The king prefers it if we knew each other and became friends so that we can help each other out if there are any incidents within the walls," Nick answers. 

We looked at each other, confused as to why that was necessary since titans weren't really seen within the walls. 

"Really?" Connie questioned. He looked at Sasha to only get a shrug as a reply. "Well, I personally don't care because I heard there is good food in the palace. I'm tired of eating tasteless bread and soup every day," Sasha pouts, while folding her arms. Connie only shook his head and grinned at Sasha's response. I looked outside the window to see if we were near. Sure enough, we were still pretty far away. All I could see ahead was the first carriage where Levi and Hange were in. Unlike us, they got a whole carriage to themselves because they were the superiors, and we were only the cadets. I sighed and closed the curtains, just for the wind to open it again. I didn't mind the wind blowing in my face because it was a pretty hot day after all. 

Connie and Sasha were talking to themselves about what they were going to do after this was all over, Mikasa and Eren had fallen asleep on each other, which leaves me and Nick just sitting there. I remembered the day he tried to help me after I fainted, so I decided to bring it up to thank him.

"Hey... Nick." He shot up and looked at me, a little surprised that I called him.

"Hm?" He replied.

"Uhh.. I want to thank you the other day...when I fainted near the tree. I heard that you carried me to my room." He looked at me, a little confused, before opening his mouth slightly to make an 'o' shape, hinting that he knew what I was talking about. "Ahhh, that day... yeah I saw that you looked pretty sick that day. And no need to thank me, I'm just helping Jean out by watching his girl," he replied without looking at me. "You excited to see him again?"

"Yeah of course. It's been a while and I miss him."

"Right. I'm sure he misses you too." I simply nodded in response.

Shortly after this conversation, the carriage stopped, and it was safe to assume that we have arrived at the palace. Eren and Mikasa woke up and we all prepared to get off. The palace was huge and the first thing we saw was the Military Police patrolling outside. Some were talking among themselves, some were actually doing what they were suppose to be doing, and some were just fooling around. My eyes looked around the palace searching for Jean. Maybe he was inside with the king. I thought. I couldn't pay much attention because everyone had to stay with each other. We soon made our way to the palace. I'll admit that I was very nervous. Never did I think that I was going to meet the king one day.

"Your Highness," we all greeted the king in unison while getting on our knees to show him respect.

"Oh, please, no need to be so formal, thank you for coming today," the king said. "I just wanted to invite you all here so that you can officially meet the new members of the Military Police. They are waiting for you right outside the door." We bowed one last time and took our leave. We split up into two groups of four. I was with Hange, Levi and Nick. The other groups consisted of Mikasa, Eren, Sasha and Connie. After we all separated to go our own ways, I decided to look for Jean. I didn't care about the other MPs anyways. I took a deep breath and decided to ask for permission to leave.
