(Y/n POV)

I was watching a live performance of a newly-formed idol group that consisted of three members. I'm in the same year level as the three. The group consisted of Honoka Kousaka, Umi Sonoda, and Kotori Minami. I know them because they are my classmates. But I don't talk to them often except for Kotori Minami as our families know each other, only talking to them for group projects when I'm coincidentally in a group with one of them.

I watched them sing and to my surprise, I liked it. I was never interested in such a genre and I also went here just to support their idea of an idol group and to also take pictures as part of documentation. You may ask, why I'm the one taking said pictures... Well, I was tasked by chairwoman Minami to take it.

But something caught me more than any aspect of their performance...

It was Umi-san...

I never knew she was this cute...

I never knew she'd look so good on her outfit, not adding that I never thought she'd want to be an idol in the first place. I've always thought of her as someone more reserved and traditional as she is also part of the archery club.

The live ended as I applauded and went near the three.

"Kotori-chan, Honoka-san, Umi-san... I was tasked to get a picture of you three after the performance. Would you guys please pose for the camera?"

The three of them nodded as I took the picture.

"Thanks! I enjoyed the performance so much!" I said to them.

"Glad you liked it, Y/n!" Honoka-san said in a very cheerful manner.

"I'm happy you watched us, Y/n-kun!" Kotori-chan said.

"T- Thanks..." Umi-san said in a very shy manner which I found very cute. She just keeps getting cuter, huh?

"You guys just earned yourself a fan!" I said as I left and went to chairwoman Minami.

After a short walk to her office, I handed her the camera as she checked the photos. While she was looking, she had a weird look on her face... Did I do something wrong?

"Minami-san? Is something wrong?" I asked as she placed the camera on the table.

"Would you mind looking at these and why you took them?" Chairman Minami said as she handed me the camera.

I looked at the camera to see that all photos were close-ups of Umi-san, making me blush furiously. Even their supposed group photo after the performance only had Umi-san in the middle while Kotori-chan and Honoka-san we're cut out of the frame.

"Oh no... I'm sorry, Minami-san! I... I-"

"Don't worry. I thought you have something for Kotori but I never knew it was for Umi instead." She said, giving me a smug look.

"No, this is not- It's not what-"

"You and your reasons, Y/n. You can go now. Thank you for the pictures." Chairwoman Minami said as she again interrupted me mid-sentence.

"Fine..." I sighed in defeat and left the room. I walked out of the school and was left wondering.

"I'm gonna get in big trouble, aren't I?" I said to myself and continued to walk home.

~The next day~

I woke up, got ready, and immediately went to school.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!" I heard a loud shout as I hastily went to where it was.

"Huh? What is it?" I asked as I saw Kotori-chan, Honoka-san, and Umi-san.

"You! You're the one who took these pictures, right?" An irritated Umi-san said as she pointed at the photos in the bulletin board as she pulled me close by grabbing my collar.

"U- Umi-san?" I asked, sweating profusely.

"L/n-kun, answer me... You're the one who took all these photos, right?" She asked, looking at me very menacingly.

"Yes..." I said.

"Why are all the photos here focused around me?" She asked.

"It's because you- you're cute!" I shouted, to which the three of them stared at me. Even the students just passing by looked at me.

"Wh- What?! Shameless! L/n-kun, you are shameless!" She said to me, clearly angry and humiliated.

"I'm sorry! It's just that... When I saw you dance and sing, I became your biggest fan!" I said, making her blush more.

"Umi-chan, calm down. You should be happy that you have a fan!" Kotori-chan said, making Umi-san calm down.

"What if you join our idol group, Y/n?!" Honoka-san exclaimed.

"No, Honoka-san. I can't and don't want to." I said, not knowing if she's joking or not.

"Just call me Honoka! You could call Umi simply 'Umi' as well" Honoka-san said.

"Uhm... FIne, Honoka." I said.

"I'll forgive you this time, L/n-kun." Umi said, making me sign in relief.

"Y/n, if you want to, you could watch us practice!" Honoka said.

"Really?!" I said in excitement.

"Yep! You'll be considered our first fan!" Kotori-chan said.

And never did I know, this was the start of something beautiful.

~A few months later~

And shortly as it is, Mu's, their idol group has now 9 members. Not adding that they also successfully saved the school from closing down.

But as everything changed, feelings remained.

Umi... I love her. My feelings for her just kept getting bigger and bigger.

Today, I plan on confessing to her. I know this sounds cliche but Isn't this how all things work out? Either be in a relationship or be rejected, right?

I watched Mu's dance and sing but no matter what I did my eyes were only fixated on one, Umi. The last steps they danced as the last lyrics they sang. The live ended and they all exited the venue. I rushed to them backstage and congratulated them all.

"Alright, Y/n is now here~" Honoka said as one-by-one all the members of Mu's left the room, except for Umi who was confused about what was going on. I have talked about this with Honoka and it seemed like she told the other members.

"Huh? What's going on, L/n-kun?" Umi asked.

"I'm getting straight to the point. I love you, Umi." I said with all my might to where she blushed madly.

"L/n-kun... I- I love you too!" Umi said, making me the happiest man in the world.

Without thinking I grabbed her and kissed her on the lips. After realizing what I did, I broke the kiss and looked at Umi.

"I- I'm sorry! I got carried away!" I said to her, begging for forgiveness.

.

.

"Jeez... You really are shameless."
