[Takes place years after Maki and the others graduated.]

(Maki POV)

"Dr. Nishikino, the doctor in charge of the patient in room 214 is currently on leave. I was tasked to relay the message that you will be in charge of him until he gets discharged." The nurse said to me as I was doing paperwork.

"Can I see his files then?" I asked the nurse as she handed the medical files over to me.

"Alright, thanks. I'll be checking on him right away." I said as the nurse left. I opened the folder filled with the files only to be surprised by the first thing I saw.

"Y/n L/n? Is this really him?"

~Meanwhile~

(Y/n POV)

"The doctor said I could leave the hospital in a few days... Goddamn car crash... That drunk driver better pay for my car that's been devastated." I said to myself as I passed my time lying down in the hospital bed. I was part of a car crash incident but luckily, I didn't get any major injuries, only wounds that were easily given aid. I consider this a miracle... For me not to break a bone... It's like I cheated death.

Suddenly the door of my room opened, it must be my doctor.

"Hey, doc! What's up?" I said, not realizing that the one who went inside wasn't the doctor who tended me yesterday and the days before.

"Oh yeah, doc told me he's on leave. Excuse me, ma'am... but you look oddly familiar." I said to the new doctor with me. She had purple eyes and red hair.

"I'm Maki Nishikino, Y/n." Maki?! As she revealed her name, I suddenly blushed. Maki was my classmate during high school... She was my high school crush. I still remember the times she'd play piano alone in the music room when I'd look at her while she was playing the piano. She's beautiful, talented, smart, beautiful- I already said that... Anyways, it feels nice seeing her again.

"Maki? Long time no see! You look as beautiful as ev- Actually, you look way more beautiful." I said, complimenting her looks.

"And you're as playful as ever. Anyways, I looked at your files and it said you're gonna be discharged tomorrow." Maki said.

"Damn, if my injuries were more severe... I could've had more time with you here." I joked.

"You really didn't change, huh? The fact that you could joke about that says it all." Maki said, to which I just chuckled.

"By the way, after I get out of the hospital... Would you like to hang out? Just like old times? We lost contact with each other when we were at college and I was wondering if you'd like to, you know... catch up." I asked her, making her blush.

"F- Fine... I'll give you my number, being a doctor is pretty busy so you'd have to wait if luck isn't on your side." Maki said with a smile.

"Alright! It's a date!" I said, making her blush harder.

"Wh- what did you just say?! It's not a date." Maki said to me.

"Whatever you say, doctor. You could go check on your other patients now." I said to her to which she immediately did so and left.

~Few years ago, Otonokizaka high school~

"Maki, will you dance with me?" I said as I offered Maki my hand. Today is prom night and I didn't have someone to dance with, nor did Maki. Me and her had been close friends since our first years. It's already our last year of high school. We became friends when she caught me staring at her when she was playing the piano. She was hesitant at first but with my usual teasing of her, she opened up eventually.
