I had grabbed Jamie's wrist again before the gun shot went off. I looked up to see Lyon holding a gun. He must have fired it, but where did the bullet end up? Jamie was fine. I didn't feel pain. The only other person in range was- . . .

"GRAY!!" I screamed.

Police officers flooded the room.

"Oh my god Jamie don't look!" I told him.

"G-Gray?" He asked softly.

"Jamie don't look!" I raised my voice fearfully, telling him again.

I hugged him close, as if I could protect him from any other gunshots. Lyon was handcuffed. Gray was being treated with emergency care, and I heard an ambulance pull up. I hugged Jamie closer. I didn't know what to do. Hang on to Jamie or run over to Gray. Jamie needed me. He was a child dragged into the middle of a police situation. But Gray . . . if I didn't see him right now I might never see him again. He could very well die right now. What should I do?! Lyon's making me choose again! He's making me choose for the second time, my love or my brother!

"Juvia you have to see him!" Jamie said, looking up at me.

"I-"

"I'll be fine! If you don't see him now then you might never get the chance to again. You at least need to talk to him!" He said frantically.

I hugged him tighter.

"Thank you so much. I'll be right back I swear," I said.

He hugged me back and we let go. I stood up and ran over to Gray. It was much worse up close. His body was laying on a puddle of blood. A BIG, puddle of blood. It might have been the heat of the moment that made me think this, but the blood seeping out could be enough to fill a river.

"Gray-"

"Ma'am step away," one of the men tending him said. He was wearing a hospital uniform so he must have come with the ambulance.

"But-"

"Ma'am please step away. He's in critical condition and if we don't leave for the hospital now, he might very well die," the other man tending to him said.

"Can I at least ride with him?" I begged at they picked up the stretcher his body was laid on.

"Relation?" They asked.

"Girlfriend," I said.

"Juvia Lockser?" He asked.

"Yes," I said.

"You have to report to the police station for a full and this time official interrogation. You can't ride with us," he said.

"Wait but-"

"I know it's not fair but it's routine. If we wait any longer then he'll lose too much blood and we won't be able to save him," he said.

I didn't say anything as they took him away. They were right. I had already wasted enough time, and by doing that I lowered Gray's chances of living even more. I'm a horrible girlfriend. Technically we're still broken up so I guess I'm a horrible friend too. My life is seriously a mess right now.

"It didn't go well did it?" Jamie asked as he slid a hand in mine.

"No. Apparently I have to go back to the police station for an official interrogation," I said.

I turned to him and immediately stepped back in surprise. It was dark so I didn't see it earlier. His body was beaten up. Bruises everywhere, and it looks like he cut his arm on something, because he had a long and deep gash on it that would definitely need stitches later.

"Jamie . . ."

"Don't worry I barely feel it anymore. I'm fine I promise," he said, looking away. He always did that whenever he was hiding something.

"Jamie that's even worse if you don't feel it. We need to get you to a hospital as well. Come on," I said.

He obliged and followed. I kept him close do that I'd never lose him again. If I lost Gray, then I'd break. If I lost Jamie again but for good, then I'd die. Okay yeah after thinking that, I definitely need therapy.

Jamie and I got in the back of the police car. He looked around the small space at all the papers at mine and Gray's backpacks.

"What happened here?" He asked.

The two officers Gray and I drove here with got in.

"Well your sister and her friend were doing school work and made us look like total idiots," the one in the driver's seat laughed.

"Speak for yourself," the other one told him.

"You're the one who didn't know what flora and fauna meant," he shot back.

"Flora and fauna refer to plants and animals," Jamie answered, trying to be helpful.

The two stopped arguing and looked back at the 8 year old boy in surprise.

"Oh so intelligence runs in the family," the one is the passenger seat sweat dropped.

"Well what do you expect? He is my brother after all," I smiled and pulled him into a side hug.

We drove back home behind the ambulance. I showed Jamie the project Gray and I were doing. He was fascinated with it. I had missed his bright personality around the house. Mom and Dad were going to be so happy when they see him. Grays parents though . . . they're who I'm worried about. They must have gotten the news by now. We're going to have to go straight to the hospital after the police station. Honestly, I just want to hold my little brother and sleep off this past month of misery.
