Chapter 27

Two days later, Maire's 2nd game was against Brazil. As USA vs. Brazil started, Tobin then passes the ball to Maire. However, the ball then gets taken away from Maire by Fabina da Silva Simões, who kicks the ball to Rafaelle Souza, and later kicks the ball back to Fabina da Silva Simões after still being open, who then passes the ball to Marta who scores Brazil's first goal in the game.

"Dang it!" said Maire

As the ball is kicked across the field by Alyssa. The ball is then touched by Marta, but is later taken away by Lindsey, who passes it to Tobin, who later passes it to Carli, who scores.

"Yes!" said Maire

After the game, the USA defeats Brazil 3 - 2. Thanks to Carli, Alex, and Sam.

Two days later, Maire's 3rd game was against Denmark.

During the game, Maire, who was running towards the ball, looked behind after seeing that she wasn't getting close to her teammates.

"What the?" said Maire, as she looked at one of Denmark's defenders named Stine Ballisager Pedersen who was getting her from her shirt. "Hey, let go!"

"Sure," said Stine Ballisager Pedersen, as she let go of Maire's shirt.

"Oof." said Maire, as she fell to the ground.

Stine Ballisager Pedersen along with her teammate, Rikke Sevecke, chuckled as they ran away from Maire.

"This is so embarrassing, I'm getting picked on by the other team." said Maire

The ball is then passed on to Rikke Sevecke by her other teammates Nanna Christiansen and Frederikke Thøgersen. The ball is then stolen by Tierna, who later passes it to Emily, who passes it to Sam, and later to Christen, who scores. USA then defeats Denmark 2 - 0, as both Christen and Becky scored a goal.

In the 4th game, the USA plays against France. Maire is then tripped by two of France's defenders Estelle Casarino and Wendie Renard. Tobin then makes an assist by helping Mal score a goal. Grace Geyoro then scores for France. A few more minutes later, Tobin then scores a goal. Marie-Antoinette Katoto then scores a goal. And later Christen scores a goal, after a few minutes later. Maire is later subbed out of the game, and is replaced by Carli. The USA defeated France 3 - 2 at the end of the game.

In the 5th game, the USA plays against Trinidad and Tobago. Maire tries to kick the ball towards their opponent's goal post from half field, where it gets blocked by their goalkeeper Tenesha Palmer. After the goalie kicks the ball to the other side, Liana Hinds then runs with the ball and tries to pass the ball to one of her teammates. Kelley arrives and steals the ball from Liana Hinds and passes it to Emily. Emily then kicks it to Mal, who kicks it to Juile who scores. As the ball is passed to Maire, Maire kicks it towards Mal, however she is tripped by Karyn Forbes, who steals the ball away from her. USA then defeats Trinidad and Tobago 2 - 0.

In the 6th game, the USA plays against China. After a few minutes of the game, Wang Shuang tries to score a goal, however the ball is blocked by Alyssa. After Alyssa kicks the ball to Becky, Ma Jun along with Wang Shuang double teamed Becky, who later kicks the ball towards Emily Fox. Emily Fox then passes the ball to Haley Hanson, who later passes the ball to Rose, who passes it to Megan who scores. Peng Shimeng then kicks the ball across the field in where Morgan gets it, and is tripped by Liu Shanshan as she steals the ball away from her. Allie then steals the ball away from Liu Shanshan, and later passes the ball to Maire. While Maire is running along with the ball, she is then shoved to the ground by Ma Jun. USA defeats China 1 - 0.

In the 7th game, the USA plays against Australia. During the game, Merritt Mathias stops Hayley Raso from scoring a goal. Kelley then runs and takes the ball away from Hayley Raso. Kelley then passes the ball to Danielle Colaprico, who later passes the ball to Juile, who passes the ball to Savanna McCaskill, who scores. After the ball is kicked by Lydia Williams, Aivi Luik head bumps the ball and kicks it in the air after seeing Merritt Mathis running towards her. The ball then lands next to Maire who takes it. While dribbling the ball, towards one of her teammates, Maire is then pushed from behind by Clare Polkinghorne. The ref finally calls a foul, against Clare Polkinghorne. USA defeats Australia 4 - 2.
