*clack clack clack*

Max's mom and stepdad, Neil, had just left her new room. He put max's bed together after what seem like 25 consecutive life sentences long. He finally finished; leaving Max's room with a proud glow only for max to return to a lopsided bed.

Max sits sprawled out on the comforters of her crocked bed; as thoughts about school in the morning corrupting her mind. Jagged sounded come from the uneven bed, as she shakes her leg anxiously. Max wasn't nervous about school itself or the fact that she was going to a new one. School back in California wasn't great; and holds a lot of ghosts from her past. Max is happy to have a fresh start.

Thoughts about whether she would fit in or have friends, is what's keeping Max's nerves at work. Not to mention the fact she's starting at the middle of the term. Not that max would ever admit to any of theses worries or fears she just lets them raid her brain as she taps her foot on the bed.

The next morning :

"you better listen to me boy!" Neil's loud barks seep through the walls.

I flutter my eyes open rolling over in my bed causing it to dip. I look over to the alarm clock on my dresser it reads 7:00

I let out a sigh toppling out of bed deciding to get dressed for the day. For my first day of school.

Max gets ready for the day, blocking out the screams coming from the other rooms

Once dressed, Max walks out of her room into the kitchen. She's approched by her mom at the sink washing dishes at seven o'clock in the morning. Neil sitting on the couch, coffee in one hand the morning paper in the other. He stares at it with a hard glance.

"'Morin honey." my mom beams a smile on her face. I assume the sudden moring enthusiasm is to ease the tenison that is so strongly flowing through the air u could almost smell it.

"Breakfast?" she asks smile still steady on her face

"i-" i start but am interuppted by a loud clash coming from the front door as billy walks out.

"I'm good, bye mom." I say rushing out the door behind billy knowing if im not outside by the time he runs the engine he would happily leave me.

The car ride was silent and quick. Billy was going like 90 miles per hour, and squeezing the steering wheel like his life depend on it. Max knows better than to ask billy to slow down, hes tense and angry from being yelled at by neil and she wants anything but to piss him of more. So max sits back in her sit quiet gripping on the car bar handle; as she was sure her life did depend on it.

after a few moments billy pulls up to the school. Hawkins middle school lies in big blue bold letters across the brick building. I step out the car looking down to the red watch secured on my wrist that I got for my 7th birthday. The pixel numbers read 7:30.

I look around the parking lot seeing no trace of any students just a few adults walking around to whom i assume is faculty.

"Great, im early." I mutter under my breathe

I was walking up to the door, maybe they let me in even tho school doesn't start till another 30 minutes. I twist the knob the door doesn't open sighing in defeat i sit down on my skateboard.

_____

Finally 4 boys pulled up on their bikes they put there bike on the rack and start walking up the the school.
