AKANKSHA KAPOOR

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.

I was sitting on the dining table and reading the newspaper as usual while sipping my coffee. It was 9am. I have to be there at the office by 11am so I still have time to leave.

I yelled, "Beena di naashte mein kya bana hai aaj?"

(Beena what's the menu for breakfast today?)

Beena di our maid came out of the kitchen and said, "Aaj naashte mein Ved saheb ke kehne pe unke liye omelette bana hai aur aapke liye matar ke paranthe bass bann hi rahe hai. Rekha Bhabhi ne meetha banaya hai aaj, Gholwan Karah."

She went back to the kitchen.

(Today for breakfast according to Ved sir's orders I've made omelette for him and for you I'm making peas parantha it'll be ready in a few minutes. Rekha bhabhi has made a sweet dish, Gholwan Karah.)

Wow! We make sweets here only during birthdays or other special occasions then what's so special today? Gholwan Karah is a Punjabi sweet and also Vamika's favourite. What's the occasion I'm wondering.

I asked, "di sab kaha gaye subah se koi nazar nahi aaya?"

(Beena where's everyone gone, nobody was seen here since morning)

Beena di yelled from the kitchen, "Vikrant saheb, Rekha bhabhi aur Vamika bibi Sidhivinayak gaye hai Darshan ke liye woh naashta khake aayenge aur Ved sir gaye office naashta karke."

(Vikrant sir, Rekha bhabhi and Vamika have gone to Sidhivinayak they'll have breakfast on the way and come and Ved sir has gone to office after having his breakfast)

I said, "theek hai." (Okay)

Beena di came out with the plate and kept it on the table and said, "yeh lijiye matar ke paranthe, kha lijiye."

(Here take your peas parantha and eat it)

I said, "thanks di aapne naashta kia?"

(Thanks Beena did you eat your breakfast?)

Beena di said, "jee mai gharse khakar aayi." I nodded and she went inside to do her work.

(Yes I ate from home and came)

We treat all our maids, workers and employees like our family only. Their well being is our concern and priority. I didn't tell anything about myself uff...silly me!

Well I'm Akanksha Kapoor, daughter of the Washington DC based famous multi billionaire businessman and industrialist Rajiv Kapoor and philanthropist Nilima Kapoor. I have two siblings Ishika Kapoor and Adi bhaiya aka Aditya Kapoor. Adi bhaiya is two years elder than me, then I'm the middle sibling and Ishika is the younger one she's two years younger than me.

They all live in Riverbend road, Great falls, Virginia which is just 13.4 miles away from Washington DC. I studied here in Mumbai only, I did my BBA Bachelor of Business administration from HR college of commerce and economics Mumbai and my MBA from IIM Ahmedabad one of the best institutions of India. I did my diploma in event management from NIEM Mumbai (National institute of event management.)

I keep visiting my parents in the USA once or twice in a year. I live here in Mumbai since childhood in our mansion with Vikrant Tauji, Rekha Taiji, Ved bhaiya and Vamika. We lived here as a joint family till dad's base shifted to the USA. I didn't want to leave Mumbai and India hence I stayed here only.

Tauji handles the business here in India and dad handles from abroad. They keep travelling a lot. Ved bhaiya assists tauji when required. Ved bhaiya has his own event management Slate & Crystal company which is one of the best and the most successful one across India and abroad. I'm proud of him he has achieved so much at a young age, he's a self made billionaire.

I work with Ved bhaiya in his company and I like my job a lot.
I finished eating my breakfast and put my plate in the sink and went out to the living room when I saw my Vikrant Tauji, Rekha Taiji and Vamika enter in the house.

Rekha Taiji saw me and asked, "Akanksha beta did you eat your breakfast and the sweetdish?"

I said, "yes Taiji I did and the sweet was yummy. As far as I know sweets we make only during occasions or birthdays so what's the special occasion today?"

Vamika came towards me and swirled me around and said, "Akanksha Akanksha Akanksha I'm sooo happy, I got promoted now I'm the new editor - in - chief of 'Talk Trends' that's why mom has prepared my favourite Gholwan Karah and we went to Sidhivinayak temple." She put me down.

Talk Trends is one of the bestseller magazines of the country.

I said, "This a great news I'm glad, wow I'm proud of you Vami. You deserved it." I hugged her tightly.

Vamika said, "thankyou so much girl."

Tauji asked, "beta what time you're leaving?"

I said, "by 10:15 Tauji I've to be there by 11am only. Ved bhai left early as he had some important work to do. He said he's meeting his bestfriend cum business partner Chaitanya Burman at his office first and then he'll come to office by 10:45-11am."

Chaitanya and Ved bhai went to the same college and that's how they became best friends.

Vikrant Tauji said, "okay beta you take my car and driver today he'll drop you to the office. Take care ok. Have a nice day." He lovingly touched my head and went to his study room.

Rekha Taiji said, "take your lunch with you and eat on time don't skip meals because of workload ok. Health should be your first priority ok." She cupped my cheeks.

I said, "yes Taiji." She smiled and went in.

Vamika said, "have a good day. I've to leave. I'll see you later."

I said, "thanks and you too have a good day bye." She went out.

I went to my room and took all the necessary belongings and put in my bag and got ready.

I'm very lucky to have such a loving family. My tauji and Taiji never made me feel the absence of my parents. They always treated me like their own child and Ved and Vamika never made me feel the absence of my siblings. I love them all so much. I talk to my parents and siblings everyday.

I got out of my room and went downstairs and after bidding bye to everyone I left for the office.
