My bag was packed, and I was so very excited. I really couldn't believe we were really going to New York. Another couple of weeks had gone by, and we had only grown closer. My worry about Jacob finding other friends was smaller, and I was beginning to realize that we were going to stay friends. At least for the foreseeable future.
«Hey, ready to go? » Jacob was standing in the door.
«Absolutely! » I grabbed my bag and practically leapt out of my dorm room. «I can't believe we actually are doing this! » I said exited as we walked towards Jacob's car. »
«I know. I have always wanted to go to New York. »
«And a perfect place to celebrate your birthday»
«Yes, it is. » Jacob agreed. We put our bags in the trunk.
«Thanks for bringing me» I said as we entered the car.
«I can't think of a better person to bring with me» Jacob smiled as he started the car.
The drive was between three and four hours, pending on the traffic. I selected the music and we spun off. We stopped on the way at a drive-through and got some food. Then as we came out of a tunnel, we saw it. The beautiful city skyline. Sun shining bright giving all the tall buildings of glass a worm refection.
«Wow, it really does look like it does in the movies» Jacob said mesmerized.
«Yes, it's even more beautiful than I remember it. » I hadn't been to New York for many years. The first time was when I was eight and my dad took me and Matt to a Rangers game. That was when I fell in love with the sport, and the city. It is also the reason I am a Rangers fan. The last time I was in New York was when Jen, mom and I went to shop before I started High School. Which is four years ago. Since then, the city had stayed perfect. It hadn't aged a bit. As we drove closer, the city grew bigger. Driving in the city was harder than we had thought, so when we arrived at the hotel parking, we decided to let the car stay there until we were heading home. Besides, we wanted to get the full New York experience which includes the Subway and walking.
«It is so god to finally have arrived» I said as we walked along the hotel corridors.
«Yes, it is. » Jacob agreed as we stopped at a door. «Here we are. Room 534» Jacob put the card into the door so the light over the doorknob turned green. As we opened the door and steps inside the room, the most amazing view met us.
«Wow, we can see the empire state building! » I said as I walked towards the window, dropping my bag in the floor. I was amazed by the view. By the time we had made it to the hotel, the sun had gone down, and the city had light up. Everything was dark besides for the lights that flickered everywhere.
«It looks like we are going to have to share a bed» I turned around and looked at Jacob who was standing by the bed. The view had taken up all my attention, so I had just walked right past that detail. «Even though we ordered two separate beds» Jacob shrugged his shoulders.
«It's not like we haven't done it before you know» I raised my shoulders to show him I didn't care.
«That's true» Jacob agreed. It didn't seem like it bothered him either. «It's getting kind of late, and I'm getting hungry. Want to get some food? »
«Sure»
We left the hotel and found a small pizza place not fare from the hotel. It really did serve traditional New York pizza. And it was amazing. As the night started to creep over midnight, we returned to the hotel to get some rest. We had a long day planed with sightseeing before the Rangers game. Oh, how I was looking forward to the game.
