«Oh, this is exactly what I needed right now» Jacob said enthusiastically as we entered the bookstore.

«Me too» I agreed. This was actual heaven. Nothing could please me more than to splurge on some new books. I had gotten some money from my grandpa for Christmas, so the mission was to spend that on a couple of new books.

Our regular classes were about to end, and we were only a few weeks away the big finals that were going to wrap up our first year in college. We made our way towards the new and noteworthy section and split up. Taking each a side and meeting at the middle. This wasn't our first rodeo. The bookstore had a vintage library look. It was really cozy and wasn't very crowded like the campus bookstore. It still had an even flow of customers though. Behind the counter there was a kind lady, who looked to be my mother's age. My eyes roamed the shelves to see if there was a cover that caught my attention. I know you aren't supposed judge a book by its cover, both figuratively and literally, but that was always phase one for me.

«So do you have plans for the weekend after school ends? » I turned to him and asked.

«No, not really. I'm leaving the Monday after though» He had turned towards me, holding a book. «Why? Do you have plans? »

«Yes, it's Jen's wedding and I was wondering if you would like to be my plus one» I picked up a book and looked on the cover.

«Yea. That sounds like fun» Jacob said way more enthusiastically than I had expected.

«Great! » I could feel my face light up. It would be a lot more fun with Jacob there. «But there is one catch though» Jacob looked sceptical at me. «You have to dance with me»

«Okey, but I didn't think you could dance» Jacob flashed me a clever smile.

«I don't, but I am a bridesmaid, so I'm obligated to» I made him a weird face to show that I really didn't want to. Jacob chuckled.

«Well, I would love to be your date for the wedding» I smiled appreciatively towards him and then we returned to the books.

It had been a while since we had been here, so the selection in the bookstore was all new and interesting. It was hard not to go crazy and buy a big pile of books. Jacob picked out two books. Both of which I would love to read. We always borrow books from each other so technically we bought books to share. I bought three books, but one of them was a wedding gift to Jen. I can't say I really counted that one. And leaving a bookstore with only one book was unheard off in my world.

I took out one of the books I bought the other day from my bag and handed it to Jacob.

«Here you go» It was The midnight library. A truly wonderful book.

«Wow, that was fast» Jacob accepted the book and put it beside him.

«I couldn't put it down. It was really good and so thought-provoking» I explained enthusiastically before I took a bite of my pizza. Him, Amelia and I were out at the pizza place across from campus. Jacob had invited me so that I could spend some more time with Amelia. To get to know her. I had off course accepted for his sake.

«What is it about? » Amelia asked and picket up the book from the table.

«It's about a girl who gets to explore how it would have been if she had lived all those other life alternatives, she would have lives if she chose differently. Basically, about how we would have lived if we had an infinity of choices. » I explained.
