The sky growled aggressively. Heavy drops of rain drummed upon the car sheds. The trees hung their branches low due to the attack of the weight of water particles. The roads were slightly flooded. Water streamed along the edges to the drains, producing high intensity of noise everywhere, ready to leave anybody puzzled and lost.

It seemed to blame someone for the way it shattered the grasslands. But whom? Was it because the two youngsters were suffering a bit too much? Or was it just to signify something even worse? Also, it might be the symbol of recovery, who knows? The duty is only to walk on, till the shoes are worn, till peace passes the way to hang on.

Areum dragged her feet through the lanes of waterlogged streets. Her feet felt heavy yet her heart screamed heavier. Her lacrimal secretions overflowed her conjunctiva though the pouring rain swirled down with it along. Her bangs stuck to her crown, temples and skull. Water-soaked hair strands looked like as if it was melting over her shoulders and back. Her lugubrious brain entangled itself in the centre of despair, love, affection and entropy.

Letting a sigh escaping her lips, she faced the cloudy heavens. Raindrops stroked her cheeks as falling nails. The dress shrunk to her skin, almost wrapping her in the plastic of strain.

Arriving at the Park Villa, Areum commenced inside the metal pylon. The natural shower had strengthened even more. She trailed into the hallway at a sloth's pace.

Soon her ears soaked the earshots of her parents' voices. Her senses encouraged her innate generosity to peep into their conversations, hiding behind the shadow of a cubical wall. Shushed notes emerged at the lobby.

"Are you nuts? I can't let her know the actual scandal behind Ae-cha's death! Never, whatever it takes, I'll never let it get exposed to her."

"But wouldn't she be surprised and immensely shocked when she would come to know that you poisoned her to death? How long will you keep it under layers?"

"That's none of your business. She's my daughter and I know her nature. She would never blame me when a reasonable logic is produced before her."

"What logic would you give her about stealing the properties from Mr Jeon? He was your best friend. But you betrayed him."

"Stop arguing like a fool. Yeah, I did. And if you don't want the same to happen to you as well, just shut your tongue in forever-" Mr Park froze on capturing his genetic offspring's
stature before him.

Areum's eyes had a sulking volcano that was yet to erupt. She parted her swollen lips to speak, "So you're the junk who killed eomma. You're the reason behind Jungkook's parents not approve of me anymore. You've such a great actor appa. You should be rewarded an Oscar for sure."

"No, no, Areum," he stammered while straightening up, "you're taking it in the wrong way, I didn't kill your eomma."

"My ears won't betray me as you I believe since they haven't learnt that yet. Spill it appa, you're the murderer," her voice stood an inch far from exact mockery and warning.

"Areum, my beautiful princess, don't misunderstand your appa," he dropped the distance between him and Areum, "I never lied to you." He tried to cup her cheeks but was utterly thrown back.

"Don't you dare touch me with those dirty hands again. What else is left to be done? You completely ruined me! For you, I lost everyone who loved me, my friends, Mr and Mrs Jeon, my eomma and Jungkook. You recklessly tore my core into innumerable shreds. Is there anything that is left to clear your thirst? Perhaps not because it's never-ending," she breathed, her chest moved up and down consequently.

Mr Park let out a frustrated sigh, "Yes I killed your eomma. I did that for you, only because I wanted you to be happy. And Jungkook is not the perfect suit for you."

"How do you know if he's good for me or not? Do you even have some warmth in you for others? I loved Jungkook, I still do and I'll do the same till I breathe my last and you can do whatever you feel like."

A slap went across her cheeks tinking her wet epidermal layer ruby. She could feel the burning of her muscles as she gaped back at the older man.

"You will never meet that guy ever again. I'll make sure that you see your fiancé in a fortnight from now. And all these properties are mugged up only for you. I did this so that my little Areum would be able to spend the rest of her life in absolute luxury without seeking anything further."

"You think your daughter will be happy with the money you earned by those dishonest deeds? I feel disgusted even to spot you as my appa. You're a damn criminal!"

Another palm collided with her lineaments. Mr Park grabbed her wrist, yanking her all the way to her room.

Opening the door, he forced her in, "Stay in till your brain asks you to apologize cuz I know your heart is too good just as your eomma for this world full of betrayers as me."

The door slammed to the wooden door frame, leaving her separated from the outer atmosphere.

She travelled to her bed with trembling knees. She pulled out her phone and logged in to her kakaotalk. Scanning through the contacts, she scrolled through her chats with Jungkook. Her fingertips though faltering at first, typed away.

'I might be too late now but Jungkook, believe me, I still love you the same as before, in fact, maybe even more since I saw that you yet care for me the same, such that you never hesitated to save me even when it takes to danger your life. I'm blessed that I found someone as pure as you in my life. That must be a lucky charm. Stay happy little bunny and don't forget to smile at least once a day. Goodbye, perhaps forever.

~Areum'

A tear cruised down her eyes which tapped down on the bright screen. She tossed it to the mattress as she made her back comfortable in front of the drawers. Flashes of the older incidents clumped in her mind, thronging amongst the lobes.

"Love can break you evenly so that you can never forget it all throughout..."

"Yes, I killed your eomma..."

"You ruined him completely. What else do you expect from my son, you wicked witch! You sorceress..."

"How ruthless can you be? Don't you know he has lung abscess?..."

Areum compressed her lids together, sobbing deeply. Her sentiments gave up on her. She only wept by hugging her folded knee caps. About half an hour later, she flipped to stand. Reaching out to every object that came hardy, she crushed them against the wall shattering them to pieces.

The vibrations of the broken glass and ceramic wedges raised from the floor upon which Areum drooped to cry and regret. Her gaze met a shiny, metallic, slender, flat entity inside the drawer. Her fingers traced its surface to grasp it.
