Areum searched into her purse for plucking out the smartphone that was proclaiming the time to go. She glanced onto the glowing flat screen on her palm and got a short panic shock.

"Ah, I guess I need to go now. Bye Kookie. And thank you for everything." She pecked his cheek and glided away, the tips of her hair fluttered in the vacant calm atmosphere. Jungkook's ears turned out numb to all other choruses happening around him.

People shared their food while gazing at the only soul sitting at a table, a soju bottle stood on its surface besides a shot glass.

His hands trailed to the bottle for pouring its contents into the little transparent glass structure. Then picking the brim filled glass, he gulped down its liquid in one go. A raspy note escaped his throat as he expressed its strong flavour. "Did she call me Kookie?" His brows danced when he was still in utter shock. Letting out a thoughtful sigh, his eyelids tapered down shutting his visions. The street stall proprietor turned up by the table, "Sir do you want some snacks as well? Soju tastes better when you enjoy it with something crunchy."

"No, it's okay. I need to have dinner too my eomma will sue me." His inebriated eyes blinked into a crescent. On his way back home, so many shadows cascaded by him but his mind was confined to only one point, hopefully, he wasn't dreaming.

The wooden barrier between the interior and exterior of Jungkook's villa, broke in as a pair of white sneakers jogged inside. As soon as he stepped in, a pretty middle-aged female figure emerged out of the kitchen.

"There you are. I've been noticing you. You are coming home quite late these days. And Jimin told me that you also skipped your collage last day. Where did you go?" Her interrogation was serious, more serious than the lamest ones that she has been trying out ever since before Jungkook met Areum. His mom always had a parasite called suspicion sucking her logical reasoning in place of blood.

"Eomma it's just, uh well," he rubbed his eyes. "I'll tell you at the dinner table. I must take a shower now." With that, he stomped up the stairs cautiously in order to not topple over for his drunk brain.

Mrs Jeon exhaled while going back to her affairs.

The dining did not look less great than a perfect candlelight dinner. Red roses blooming out from a porcelain vase, small wax sticks lit up at some corners along with a nice red table cloth, yet neither Jungkook nor his dad had any slightest clue as to what could be the reason behind that sudden blaze.

Jungkook gasped at the crazily glimmering tabletop. "Eomma what're all these? Is there something special today?"

Mrs Jeon nodded, her hands placed a soup bowl at the centre. "Honey, what is it today?" She arched her brow at her husband sitting right across her.

Mr Jeon choked on his drink, a new sense of perplexion glared from his inner organs. "Uh what? I don't think it's our anniversary."

Mrs Jeon perched on her cushion and shook her head, "I knew you will never give this day a chamber in your heart. Today is the day when we first met each other twenty five years ago!"

Jungkook chuckled at the not so ready condition of his father.

"You punk! What's there to laugh at this huh?" Mrs Jeon darted her eyes on Jungkook who stiffened for her sudden action.

"Honey, stop. Don't scare him. Of course, he'll laugh at you. Who celebrates their first meet after getting married? I doubt if anybody ever remembers that. And we even have a child who's an adult now!" Mr Jeon protested, his explanations did seem realistic though.

Mrs Jeon dropped her spoon, it clanked with the food on her plate. "I knew I would be getting to hear all sorts of bluff curses and criticises from you instead of a good review. You're no more that old Yeomeong I used to know." Now started the real drama.

Mr Jeon's words tangled in his pharynx. Jungkook said, "Eomma come on. Don't be silly. It is pretty obvious for him to not remember it."

"Wow, you're trying to take your appa's side now? That's ridiculous. Fine forget it. By the way, I suppose you had promised to tell me something."

Jungkook's hands paused with a spoon inside his mouth, "Mmm?" His gums chewed down the bolus, "What did I promise? When? Where?"

"Look at your audacity. Today just a few minutes before the dinner, here at the lobby, you said that you'll tell me about..." She was cut off in between.

Jungkook started, "Oh that, I had some errands for my friends. Nothing special eomma. Don't worry."

"Are you saying the truth? I hope there's not a girl behind your late show ups?"

Jungkook's neck clenched, he fell out coughing hard. Slurping some water through the oesophagus, he got relieved. His dad's palm still worked on patting his back. "Eomma who told you all these? Don't be absurd. I said already that I had gone running some errands, that's all."

Jungkook returned to his room. The known inner aura welcomed him honourably. His butt landed on the bed as he recalled the scenes when Areum smiled before planting her lips onto his. That great feeling which he never felt prior to those very seconds, the new breed of butterflies which jostled as dragonflies inside his stomach, the pathetic condition inside his ribcage, the numb brain, everything was a total new outcome to him. Yet he liked them, those sensations felt beatific to his core.

His fingers ran over his edges as he smiled to himself. "Is this actually happening?" he aired, the corner of his lips rising upwards.

What is happening? Mrs Jeon thought, her ear pressed tightly to the surface of the door of Jungkook's space. She wanted to know what exactly her son was up to. What was the hidden clause behind his camouflaged words. She must know it all.

As she was brushing her eardrum on the wood, someone clutched her shoulder from the back. Her orbs struck out as a warm touch landed on her body. She hurled back to find her husband standing with diligent looks.

"What are you doing here?" His voice was loud as ever that made Mrs Jeon shush him down.

"Shh, you'll alert him!" She exclaimed cautiousness tinting her letters.

"Alert me? About what?" Jungkook tucked open the door and stood at the doorway.

Mrs Jeon gulped, "Nothing I was just passing by your door to go to my space and your appa thought that I was peeping into your room."

"But honey our room is in the opposite direction. You don't need to get to his corner for going to our room," Mr Jeon said.

Mrs Jeon purses her lips while getting her teeth, "I know that. I just came to check over him if he was asleep already. He has his college tomorrow so he needs to sleep early."

"Yeah, I'll do that. You never come to check on me. What brought you here tonight?" Jungkook blinked.

"I don't know. Sounds like I'm some wanted criminal, the way you two are interrogating me. Cut this out now I'm going to bed." She turned on her heels to leave.

Mr Jeon shrugged and followed her behind by looking for his son. Jungkook bit his lower lip as his brain was busy confirming some kind of stuff. That's strange. Eomma never sounds this confused. What's wrong with her?
