Marcus ~

Later on that evening Marcus and Declan sat in their hotel room going over the facts and creating theories, but none of them made sense - none of them explained the fake death certificates.

While Nate helped Hunter with a surveillance assignment, Lainey stepped in and assisted Marcus and Declan over the phone.

"Can you give me mission logs for any jobs Caroline had worked for Fox in the weeks leading up to the bombing?" Marcus asked Lainey.

Lainey was silent for a second or two, but they could hear clicks of a keyboard in place of her voice.

"Shit, give me a sec I'm still learning these different agency interfaces." Lainey said.

"Don't sweat it Hon, you're doing great." Marcus encouraged her.

More silence filled the room as Marcus and Declan patiently waited for Lainey to find the information they needed.

"Well I can give you bits and pieces, but the majority of Caroline's mission reports are sealed. Anything to do with Fox seems to be either redacted to the point where it's basically nothing or sealed completely. Not even Hunter's clearance credentials can get me in." Lainey huffed.

"Figures." Declan muttered. They were often locked out of CIA databases unless working in tandem with the agency on a specific job.

"Hold up a sec, What about Axel? He's the only one here at Knight who had ever met or worked with Caroline and if he worked with her maybe he dealt with Fox?" Marcus mused.

"Hey Lainey is Ax still up there or has he left for the day?" Declan asked.

"I think Axel and Austin are out at the shooting range still, I'll radio down there."

"Alpha One this is Ladybug, are you still in the building?" Lainey said over the radio

"Still here Ladybug, you need me?" Axel answered.

"In conference room three when you get a minute."

"Copy that Ladybug, on my way."

Marcus knew that Axel probably wouldn't have a lot of information, but any information was better than nothing.

"I sure wish my call sign was a bit more scary sounding." Lainey joked.

"It had to be something that flies since you and Nate are our eyes in the sky, I think it's perfect." Declan chuckled.

"Oh come on Nate gets something cool like Eagle. I guess I just wanted something a little more intimidating."

Marcus and Declan were both grinning like idiots at Lainey's words.

"Lainey are you somehow under the impression that you're intimidating." Marcus taunted her.

"Well I was...right up until you made that comment." Lainey sassed.

"Don't listen to em' Lainey. You're hella intimidating. That's why I ran right up here. Nobody wants to cross Ladybug." Axel's voice came through the phone as he entered the room.

He wasn't lying. Nobody wanted to cross Lainey, but it was more out of fear of repercussions from Caleb and Marcus than from Lainey herself, but Axel conveniently left that part out.

"What's up fellas, I'm guessing the radio summons was for you?" Axel said into the phone.

"Yeah, you happen to know anything about Caroline's supervisor, Fox?" Marcus asked, holding his breath in hopes that Axel had some light to shed.
