Marcus~

Marcus was speechless and shocked even though he knew he shouldn't be. This whole time he had assumed that Hunter was unwilling to go after Fox, when in reality Hunter was just trying to give all of his subordinates plausible deniability.

Everyone at the table knew Hunter had planted the bomb in Fox's vehicle, but no one was going to ask how or when. If Hunter wanted them to know, he'd tell them.

The air was thick with unspoken words, but there was a smile on everyone's face, including Caroline's. Marcus could practically feel the relief radiating off of his girl as it slowly set it that Hunter had permanently silenced Fox, that she didn't have to look over her shoulder for the rest of her life wondering what Fox was doing in the shadows.

Hunter slurped the last of his cereal as if it were just a typical Tuesday and wiped down the table where he'd been sitting before he headed back toward the barracks.

"Holy shit." Kincaid chuckled as the teams followed their leader, waiting for their next instructions.

As the teams got closer to the metal building that housed their bunks, Alyssa's small frame came into view.

She was frantically knocking on the doors with a panicked look that made Axel step forward, jogging ahead of the rest of the team.

Alyssa's eyes settled on Axel and she let out a visible sigh of relief as she clutched her chest.

"Oh thank God." Alyssa said, launching herself into Axels chest.

Axel huffed out a surprised breath as her body slammed into his, but it was obvious how much he enjoyed the intimate greeting.

"What'd I do to deserve that?" Axel chuckled.

"Sorry. That was really unprofessional." Alyssa said quickly, pulling away and straightening her top.

"I just thought you and your teams might have gotten caught in the crossfire of the ambush last night and I had to make sure you were okay."

Axel's smile grew wider as Alyssa admitted how worried she was for his safety.

"Not a scratch on me." Axel said, holding his arms out as proof.

"I'm so glad you're okay. After losing three FBI agents, I couldn't stand the thought of..." Alyssa's voice cracked and her voice trailed off.

Wait a minute, there weren't any FBI agents at the compound. The FBI was only involved with the escaped victims.

Caroline came to the same conclusion, covering her hand with her mouth as she  gasped.

"The FBI rally point was ambushed?" Caroline asked in a shaky voice.

Alyssa nodded in return with red puffy eyes that were swollen from crying.

"Late last night. Their caravan was attacked before they could get the victims to the air strip." Alyssa confirmed with tears in her eyes.

Kincaid took a step forward with his brows drawn into a deep scowl.

"Any survivors?" Kincaid asked.

"Two agents are still in critical condition, undergoing surgery as we speak."

"And the trafficking victims?" Kincaid's voice shook slightly.

"All captured. They were long gone before medevac was able to get onsite."

"Oh Maira." Caroline whispered with tears in her eyes as Marcus wrapped her up in a hug.

Kincaid huffed out a breath and ran his hand through his hair a few times, visibly shaken by the news.
