Marcus ~
Marcus shifted his weight side to side anxiously awaiting confirmation from Declan or Slater through the radio that they had successfully retrieved Caroline.
"It's taking fucking forever." Marcus grumbled.
"Eagle how are our comms connections?" Hunter asked Nate.
"Solid, Sir." Nate answered, indicating the radio wasn't malfunctioning.
Marcus and the rest of the teams were waiting a few klicks to the East while Tank and the other volunteer teams laid in wait to the West.
"Alpha Leader - Problem. Reds not for sale. Purchasing another asset to gain access to holding cells for extraction - Advise."
Declan's message made Marcus drop his head and ball his fists in frustration.
Of course this wasn't going to be easy.
"Copy that. Extraction in thirty - confirm." Hunters deep voice answered immediately, ready to lead the teams in to get Caroline without any hesitation.
"Copy. Wait for confirmation of both packages."
"Copy that."
"Everybody get that?" Hunter asked.
"Heard sir." Marcus confirmed along with the men around him.
"Let's roll." Hunter said as he climbed into a utility vehicle.
"Tank, moving in for extraction. Meet at rally point and standby for confirmation."Hunter said over the radio to Tank and the other teams on the West side.
"Copy, Alpha leader." Tank responded.
Marcus and the rest of the team piled into the utility vehicles with an intense focus that seemed to suck all of the air from the earth. Feeling his veins fill with adrenaline, Marcus tried to keep his emotions in check as they approached the outskirts of the lavish compound.
Austin and Logan were the first to hop out and gather equipment from the back, preparing to set charges for explosives on the North side of the building. The back up plan has become the primary plan and they would need a diversion to draw out the armed men so the teams could sneak in from the opposing side for extraction.
Pierce set up his sniper rifle, keeping Austin and Logan in the sights of his scope as they set the charges. Hunter had a handheld scope and watched as well, looking for any sign of movement in the dark against the dusty desert landscape.
Marcus ran through different scenarios in his mind, going through each one individually as the men waiting for confirmation from Declan.
If she's too hurt to walk, Calebs there and we'll carry her out. If she's chained or pinned down we've got keys and bolt cutters at the ready. We've had to go in under heavy fire to save targets before and we'll do the same for Caroline. I'll shield her body and carry her out if she needs me too, but this waiting is fucking killing me.
"Anything?" Marcus asked impatiently.
"Negative." Hunter answered, still monitoring the explosive experts as they made their way back from setting the charges.
"Wire transfer just went through." Lainey's voice sounded through the radio.
Okay at least they're making progress in there. Maybe no news is good news.
...or maybe they're in fucking trouble and we're just standing out here.
Rolling his shoulders back in a few quick circles, Marcus blew out a hard breath.
