Marcus ~

Being married to Caroline breathed new life into Marcus in a way he never could have imagined.

She was everything good in the world and brightened every bit of darkness within Marcus that had tortured him for so long.

Hunter had hired Caroline on to work with Lainey and Nate and told her if she ever wanted to start doing field work, all she had to do was say the word.

Caroline discussed it with Marcus and although the thought of her working jobs in the field made Marcus' pulse pick up, she had more than proven how strong and capable she was. He would have supported any decision she made, but ultimately Caroline decided that she needed some peace and calm in her life for now and that working a desk with Lainey was much more appealing.

Marcus sat in a conference room with the rest of Bravo team going over specs for an upcoming job when Lainey's voice echoed from next door.

"I got a Jack Griffin at the front gates. Anyone expecting him?"

Marcus looked at Declan who shook his head.

"Bravo is not." Declan called out.

The buzzer of the gates intercom bounced off of the floor and sounded down the hallway

"Open the damn gate. I've got an appointment with Hall."

Caleb's ears perked and his jaw clenched at the sound.

"Who the fuck is talking to Lainey like that?" Caleb said in a deep low voice as he stood from the table.

"I'll handle it." Hunter said coldly as he walked past.

"Also, Kezie's here for Zeus." Lainey added

"Where is she?" Hunter asked.

"Break room."

"Go get her and put her in the conference room with Bravo team. I want you to wait in there as well."

I don't like Hunter's tone. Something's up.

Lainey, Kenzie and Zeus appeared in the conference room seconds later. Lainey gave Caleb a quick peck on the lips, but Caleb was finding it difficult to hide the scowl on his face

"Got a seat for ya right here Kenz," Pierce said happily, pulling out a chair that was positioned slightly behind him in relation to the door.

"Thanks." She said cheerfully, patting her leg so Zeus would follow.

Everyone was on edge, wondering who the hell Jack Griffin was and what he was doing there.

"Anybody got a radio?" Marcus asked.

Declan leaned forward and I clipped one from his belt, tossing it over to Marcus who caught it effortlessly.

"Red baby, where are you?" Marcus said through the radio.

"Shooting range with Gunner." She answered immediately.

"Stay put." Marcus said in a voice that was meant to be obeyed.

"Copy that." She agreed without question.

Marcus moved to the front doors with Declan, watching through the windows in case Hunter needed back up. Hunter's large frame approached the gate with a gun visibly tucked on to the back of his jeans.

With his arms folded across his chest the entire time, Hunter spoke through the gate to Jack who was calm at first but eventually escalated to screaming.
