Chapter 14: I Love You

Being part of this family... wasn't a fairytale at all.
It was a kind of purgatory.
Death... was the only way that she felt she could be free.

Miku Yui's POV

When I woke up... the first thing I was met with was the bright lights of a hospital room.

Upon slowly lifting myself to sit up did I notice how my entire body was wrapped from head to toe in bandages, my face too. They were obviously meant to cover all the deep, bloody cuts that covered my entire body from Katsuki's Explosions. Fortunately the bandages didn't cover my eyes, nose, and mouth so I could still see, talk, and breathe. I probably looked like a fucking mummy. And on top of that, my head was absolutely killing me. It didn't help that I was clearly still suffering the drawback of my Quirk. I had never used it so extensively like that before...

Looking to my right, my eyes widened when I was met with Katsuki laying there in his own bed. He was clearly unconscious. He too was dressed in a hospital outfit like me and was wrapped in bandages, including his face, though not as extensively as me, the mummy non-bino gal. However, unlike me, he had a cast around his entire right arm and many machines hooked up to him, including a brace around his torso to help him breathe.

... But then I breathed in sharply when the memories came rushing back to me.

What has happened since I passed out?!

The last thing I remember is fucking have like some Quirk Awakening or something and saving Vanessa's life?! And hugging her close to me before it all went black...

Is she okay?! Is everyone else okay?!

I quickly looked over to my left and internally sighed in relief upon finding my phone on the nightstand next to my bed. I leaned over to snatch my phone, but I hissed when my very long hair got caught on the right railing of my bed. Darting my head around, I only now noticed how my hair was down.

I groaned a sigh. I grabbed my hair and yanked it out of the railing. At this point, it didn't even hurt because of how much pain my body and head was in. So now that I was free, I reached for my phone for a second time and this time grabbed it.

Sitting back down in my bed, I turned on my phone, my wallpaper flashing before my eyes. But I didn't even take in my wallpaper. My eyes were frantically scanning the one, singular text message from the Bakusquad group chat that was surrounded by many other notifications on my lockscreen.

Without a moment's hesitation, I clicked Kirishima's text, unlocked my phone with my passcode because it obviously couldn't recognize my bandaged-up face, and scanned the texts underneath his messages.

And I couldn't find the words to what I was watching.
