(This happened to me so this should help you understand better)

Korra:me

Asami: my cousin

Mako: my mom

Bolin: my dad

Korra was asleep on the couch. But she didn't look asleep. Her eyes were wide open. Asami saw her and gave her a greeting.

"Her korbear"

Korra blinked and rubbed her eyes. She yawned and stretched before looking around. Asami looked confused on why korra was acting as if she just woke up.

Korra asked her why she woke her up and asami laughed.

"Well you're eyes were wide open so I thought you were awake"

Just then bolin walked in. He smiled at them confused of what what was happening.

"Did you know korra sleeps with her eyes open?"

"No I didn't think she did"

Mako walked in, heard them and walked right out. He did not have time for this nonsense.

Korra stepped in and defended her sleeping.

"It runs in the family"

"From who?" Asami asked

"My dad (grandmother) sleeps with his eyes open a lot of the time"

Bo and pastrami looked at the avatar then started laughing.

A few years later

Asami asked her and korra's daughter what her nightmare was about after she crawled into their bed. She got a response that almost made her giggle.

"Mama sleeps with her eyes open"
