Ferid had been pondering the matter for days, almost without coming to any conclusion. On the one hand he told himself that it was necessary, that he had no choice, while on the other there was an overwhelming fear that gripped him, preventing him from making up his mind completely, but now the time for hesitation was over.

The time had come to act, trying for the first time to expose himself completely to another. He was ready to face up to the choice of being with a girl and sharing with her part of a past and present perhaps difficult to accept by someone who could not understand the reasons that had pushed him to act in one way rather than another.

He would try to explain his reasons, he would try to make the girl he loved share his thoughts.

He hoped that this would help him feel closer to the girl.

He almost laughed at himself.

A thousand years of painstaking preparations shaken by the faint warmth of a human.

He looked at the horizon.

How much he had wanted to wake up to feel that warmth animating his cold body? At first, too many times. Those thoughts were like a curse that continued to haunt him day and night. Then they had subsided, leaving room for other machinations of his new, even more acute vampire mind that had led him to develop a plan to meditate revenge.

To get the justice that no one would ever give him. He had worked for centuries to build everything he had, centuries to offer others a certain image of himself, centuries to study the moves of his adversaries, to understand them, making them slaves to the plots he had hatched.

The only piece that had been unhinged from that perfect plot was Yurika.

His Yurika, his and no one else's.

"Ferid! I'm ready!" He watched as the girl approached. It truly looked like they were going on a simple pleasure trip, and objectively, that was how he had explained the outing to the girl. A pleasant outing to diversify the day, of course Yurika couldn't imagine to what extent the day would be full of surprises.

Starting with the car in which he took her. A beautiful convertible. At least beautiful to her eyes. The only transport she had ever had to deal with had been army vans. She hadn't seen a car like this since the days before the apocalypse.

"Wow," she merely said to himself.

Ferid approached the car, opening its door.

"Have a seat, milady."

"Such gallantry."

The vampire merely smiled, perhaps at the sight of the bodies the girl would see things differently.

He sighed as he went to settle into the driver's seat.

"Ready for your favourite vampire to run you through?" He teased her. Yurika nodded, ecstatic about the new experience.

Not that Ferid had gone into too much detail about where he was taking her and for what reason, he had been rather vague about it.

Though finding out that the vampire owned more than one house had surprised her.

What was his motive? What arcane purpose was he using them for? She was curious, but also worried. No one could know what she was up against. By now she had understood that she could expect anything from this vampire.

Like running through the streets at breakneck speed. More than once she shouted at the danger with which Ferid drove around the curves, each shout followed by a hearty laugh. He too laughed at the girl's reactions.
