"You will learn at your expense that in the long journey of life you will encounter many masks and a few faces."
Luigi PirandelloYurika was awakened by the light of the sun entering the window. She stretched and stayed a little under the blankets. "I thought that I put the alarm clock." She snorted, then she remembered... She had it turned off and she had fallen asleep. "Ugh... Kurena you had to wake me up." The demon didn't answer. "Be sucky... Well, at this point so much is worth doing quietly, for once I have no urgent commitments." She remembered the decision she had taken the day before regarding the "Seraph of the End", but was undecided on how she should act. Would it have been better to talk about it with Guren or with Kureto? Maybe neither of them in the end... She sighed. First she would go to the basement where the experiments were held and once she came there she would decide what would be the most appropriate thing to do.
"Good morning, Yurika-sama." "Good morning." Answered the girl cordially. It was staggering to see how anyone showed an extreme respect for members of the Hiiragi family. She was more than accustomed to this situation, but it annoyed her anyway. She thaught that her family would have to change something, but she knew that this kind of situation was exploited to impose the authority of the Hiiragi family and the laboratory where she was represented the fulcrum of the army's activity. She spent the whole morning looking for new information, but soon she realized that alone she couldn't do much, but she managed to get a clearer idea of the existence of a gene linked to this seraphim. She discovered the name of some guys who carried that gene and smiled, seeing among them the name of the little boy of Guren. Then she hadn't misunderstood Guren's speeches. It wouldn't be surprising to discover that the others were the names of the new teammates of her sister. At this point it would have been appropriate to look for an approach with Guren, because it was evident that he knew something. She closed the flaps, she was totally taken that she hadn't realized the presence of someone near her. Two hands laid on her eyes. Yurika shuddered, caught by surprise. "What were you doing, Miss?" She reassured hearing that voice. "Guren, you scared me." "A Hiiragi that gets scared for so little?" Still with this story she thought annoyed. "Rather, I see that my speech of yesterday aroused your curiosity." "And what about you, instead? Did they resign you or did you ran away?" "They kept me too far in there. Did you have fun with these paperwork?" The girl grew stern. "They are interesting, but..." "But?" "There are a few holes... And things that don't add up." The man looked at her seriously. "Did you expect to find accurate and detailed reports?" "I really didn't expect anything Guren." The man smiled at her. "If it were so you wouldn't be here." And he came closer to the girl. "My sister's teammates... You didn't choose them at random, did you?" "No, Yurika. Those guys really have that gene, you analyzed those cards well." "What's the point of this?" "It's all part of a plan..." "I bet those kids know the details too." Snapped the girl, knowing the answer. The silence of Guren confirmed her doubt. "I didn't think you were an exploiter of people like my brother." The man looked bad at her. "Don't you think you've come to some rather hasty conclusions?" Yurika looked at him badly. Yes, maybe he was right. Se didn't know so much that she could afford to judge and perhaps even imported them. She didn't import what he was doing, but this time his plans would involve Shinoa. And it didn't really reassure her. "I wanted to try to understand better, that's all. I wouldn't want Shinoa to become a pawn..." He laughed. "Do you care about that little girl?" Yurika didn't answer. "Now I'm going to reach them to give them some guidance, accompany me?" The girl had perfectly noticed how Guren had completely changed speech, but she understood that she couldn't have all and immediately. She had to give a little patience, but she wasn't interested in those kids. A little bit worried about her sister, but she knew she was able to get away with it. "No, Guren. I have to do something. See you soon." And she started to the exit of that place.
She wanted to meet her brother, which was quite disturbing. And reckless. It was the first time she would be presented by him without being summoned. She wait a while before she decided to knock on the door of his office. It was Aoi Sangu who opened the door. She looked at her with surprise, then let her in. "Thank you, Aoi." She said smiling. "Yurika, why are you here?" "Am I bothering you?" "No, don't worry. Sit down as well." The girl obeyed, then waited, not being sure how she should start the conversation, but, by her surprise, it was the brother to break the silence. "Listen, for what happened yesterday with dad, I don't know what took him..." "Don't worry... And anyway, I'm not here for that." Kureto looked at her surprised and curious at the same time. "I would try to figure out some things..." He kept keeping his eyes on her. "Get to the point and don't beat around the bush." "Exactly what does the army want to achieve with the experiments?" Aoi and Kureto exchanged a glance. The man cleared his voice. "Our main goal is to eliminate all the vampires, but, as you know, we humans with our own forces can hardly hope to defeat them. This is why we are studying, through experiments, the creation of weapons that allow us to prevail." "And the seraph of the end would be one of these weapons?" And the girl noticed the alarm look that the blonde threw at Kureto. "More or less yes, Yurika." But the Lieutenant general understood that the girl was not bothered to ask for something like that. He watched her taken in an inner debate. "Specifically, what is the experiment?" The brother looked at her rather surprised. The sister really knew how to surprise him sometimes. "Why do you want to know?" Yurika supported his brother's inquiring gaze. "I'm a Hiiragi. I have a place in the army. I'd like to understand a little more and give a hand if possible." The girl was surprised at how convincing she seemed to be. But the most surprising thing was the brother's genuine smile. "I'm glad you start to care about these things. You might be helpful." Yurika wasn't deluded altogether. The tone used by her brother had made her realize that it wouldn't be so simple. "Though?" She whispered before the man. Kureto laughed. "One thing at a time Yurika, they are pretty important information and I think it's better to start quietly. Give me some time to organize myself. I'm going to let you know something, okay?" The girl hinted at a yes, she hadn't exactly gotten what she wanted, but was on the good road. She got up. "Ah, Yurika..." "Yes?" "I need to see Guren, could you tell him to join me here?" "S-Sure. See you soon. Hi, Aoi." Kureto and the girl waited for the release of Yurika. "Kureto, are you going to tell her everything? Are you sure? " The man didn't deigned to look at her. "Maybe, but I'll talk to my father first." "With Tenri? So he doesn't want her to know..." "If Yurika knew it would be a problem, I don't know if she would accept it. I'll study something."
Meanwhile the sister was reaching Guren happy with the success of the interview with her brother. She really fed hopes. It didn't take long to find him struggling with the kids. She recognized the raven who had interrupted them, smiled, seeing that the other two boys, were those with the gene. Then she saw her sister. Guren was making a speech to them. "Lieutenant Colonel Ichinose Guren, Kureto requires your presence in his office." "Did you happen to have brainwashed?" The girl looked at him confused. "Well, since when do you use this formal language? Do you want to show everyone that you're a Hiiragi?" Yurika lifted an eyebrow. "Think what you want. Just hurry to reach him." Guren snorted. "Well. Now you can meet your sister's friends in person!" Yurika noticed that she wasn't the only one watching him astonished. "Guren what..." "Guys. For today she will take care of you!" And laid his arm around her shoulders. Yurika threw him a look. "Don't look at me like that!" He let her go. "Behave well midgets." And he went away. "He'll pay this." Shinoa laughed. "Come on Yurika!" She told her. Yurika sighed. "I don't have much choice... That infamous. I am Yurika Hiiragi. If I'm not mistaken, you're Yuuichiro Hyakuya." She said observing the boy, then she looked at the other two. "And you?" "Shiho Kimizuki." Replied the boy with pink hair. "Yoichi Saotome." Answered the other. "It had to be him to train us!" Snapped Yuuichiro. "My sister's pretty strong, she also owns a weapon like yours!" Intervened Shinoa. "In fact, let's start!" It would have been a long day. All thanks to that idiot of Guren and that other one who summoned him.
