Always you (A Catching Feelings sequel)

Chapter 1

It was chaos, bullets were flying from all directions. The sound of a piercing scream echoed through the air. Steve felt his heart stop, as he noticed blood trickling into a puddle. Oh god. Don't let it be Tiana. Steve thought to himself. He glanced in the direction of where the voice was coming from. Steve's heart broke at the horrendous sight. He found Tiana lying in a pool of blood, screaming in agony. She was shot in her abdomen. Blood continued to flow out of her wound. He knelt down on the ground, trying very carefully not to hurt her. "You're going to be okay. I promise you Tiana." Steve said, as tears were streaming down his eyes, blurring his vision."Everything is going to be fine." He said, as he  tried to gently pick her up in his arms. It only caused her to howl in pain. He set her gently on the the ground once again. Unsure of what to do, he called for help, hoping the other members could help him out in the this terrifying situation. 

The chase died down, leaving the Avengers exhausted and critical condition. Steve was stuck by Tiana's side, paralysed with fear. He didn't know how he could help. Bruce came rushing towards with a gurney, the safest way to move Tiana without hurting her. Thor came to Tiana's side, wanting to help in any possible way. Thor gently lifted Tiana off the ground, cradling her in his arms as if she were a fragile doll. He then delicately placed her on the gurney. Steve, still frozen in shock, just sat on the ground trembling with anxiety. Thor walked over to him and knelt down. "Steve, she will be okay. Tiana is a fighter. She is going to make it." Thor tried reassuring him. Steve turned to look at him, giving a small grateful smile. Steve just nodded in acknowledgment, not wanting to say wanting say what was really going on in his head. "If you need to talk, I'm here." He said, kindly. "Thanks, Thor. I really appreciate it. Is everyone else alright? I was so focused on Tiana I didn't get to check on everyone else." Steve asked, quickly glancing around the room to check if everyone was okay. "Yeah, most of the team is okay." Thor said, hesitantly. "Most?" Steve asked. "Yeah, Tony and Nat had taken a few hits but they are in a stable condition." Thor said. "I should go and check up on Tiana. She must be terrified right now." Steve said, getting up. "I'll come with you." Thor said, politely. Steve nodded. 

On the way to the medical room, Steve couldn't help but think that what happened to Tiana was his fault. He was right there and he couldn't protect the person he loves. He couldn't do the one thing he said he would do. Protect her. He would have to make it up to her somehow. He was not going to leave her side. He would do everything in his power to keep her safe. He won't let anyone hurt her ever again. Never again. When Steve and Thor walked into the medical room, his heart broke at the sight of Tiana. She was lying unconscious, as the medical team were trying  to stop the bleeding from her abdomen. "Will she be okay?" Steve asked, his voice shrill with panic. "Sir, I'm sorry but we can't answer that question right now." One of the staff said impatiently. That made Steve even more anxious."Please, you have to know something. Just tell me if she is stable. Please." Steve begged, tears already in his eyes. "I'm sorry, sir. There is nothing we can tell you now. We will let know if there is an improvement but for now please may you leave the room." The annoyed staff member replied.

"It's okay, Steve. We can come back later. She will be okay. Trust me." Thor said gently, ushering Steve out of the room. "You don't know that. Even they said they don't know. What if something goes wrong. I don't think I will be able to handle it if something had to happen to her. I can't live without her. She is my whole world. I love her so much." Steve said, bursting into tears . The tears came pouring down. His heart throbbed with pain. Thor put his arm around Steve's shoulders, attempting to comfort him. "It will be alright. Take it easy. I think you should get some rest. It has been a long night." Thor patted his back. "I'll just wait outside the room. I need to stay close. If she wakes up, I want to be there for her." Steve said, slouching against the wall. "Remember, you need to rest too. I have to go now. I need to take Jane home. She's still shaken up herself. I'll see you tomorrow. Get some rest, Steve. You need it." Thor advised, worried about his friend. Steve just nodded, not really paying attention to what Thor just said.He just wanted to be alone now.
