Chapter 16

Steve was the first to wake up. He turned to look at Tiana, who was still sound asleep. He brushed off the hair that covered her eyes. He smiled fondly at her, grateful that such a wonderful person like Tiana was in his life. He pressed a small kiss on her forehead. Whenever he looked at her, his heart always skipped a beat. He knew that feeling would never go away. He loved her more and more each day. He hoped she felt the same way as well. "I love you." He whispered to her. 

Tiana smiled, unintentionally letting Steve know she was awake. "How long have you been awake?" Steve asked in disbelief. "I guess the time you woke up. I knew you  still silently watch me when I sleep." She giggled. "You're making it sound much creepier than it is," Steve said defensively. "I know. I love seeing you get so worked up about it." She teased, as she sat up in bed. He had a mischievous grin on his face. "Come here." He ordered as he pulled her closer to him. "I love you so much." She said to him, before kissing him. "I love you too." He said, kissing back. "All I want to do is spend the rest of the day with my fiancé in bed. What do you think of that idea?" Steve asked, with a grin. "I think my fiancé had the best idea" She exclaimed happily. "Good." He said, voice deepened as he swept the covers over them. 

Later that evening, while Tiana was still in bed and Steve was getting food. She couldn't help but admire her engagement ring. She couldn't take her eyes off it. It was radiant. She had seen it before but somehow it looked even more beautiful now that she was wearing it. She couldn't have been happier. She was engaged to the sweetest man she ever knew. Steve caught her in her moment. He couldn't help but smile adoringly at his fiancé. He couldn't wait for Tiana to become his wife. 

"I ordered some burgers. I figured you would be as hungry as I am after the long day we had today." He winked. "This is why I'm marrying you." She smiled, holding her hands out for the food. "I love you." She said, before biting into her burger. He chuckled, giving her a peck on her cheek. It didn't take long for them to fill themselves up with burgers and fries. "That was the best meal I've had in a long time." Tiana laid down on the bed, satisfied. "You're only saying that because you were starving." Steve laughed. "Yeah, probably." She agreed. "So when should we tell the others?" Tiana asked. "Whenever you're ready to? Although, I'm pretty sure they will notice the ring on your hand, so you won't be able to keep it from them. "That's true." Tiana laughed. "Let's tell them tomorrow," Tiana said, giddily. "Tomorrow it is." Steve agreed.

The next day, Steve and Tiana walked hand in hand, with huge smiles on their faces. "Why are you two looking more in love than usual? Nat questioned them. Tiana lifted her hand, drawing attention to the ring that was there. Nat gasped. "Oh, my word! Congratulations you two! I'm so happy for you guys." Nat exclaimed happily as she hugged the two of them. "It's about time." Bucky chimed in, as he patted Steve on the back. "Congratulations." Bucky smiled, as he hugged Tiana. "Was there a big romantic surprise?" Tony asked, grinning. "There wasn't. actually. It was more a spur of the moment." Steve answered, sheepishly. "Really?" "The truth is I found the ring lying on the ground. It was when I realised he got kidnapped. I had the ring since then and gave it to him last night. He was busy looking for it and couldn't find it. That's when I gave it to him. He was shocked that I had it. He obviously wanted it to be a surprise." Tiana explained as everyone came to admire the ring. 

"Wow, it's such a beautiful ring. You have good taste, Steve." Sam whistled with approval. "Thank you. I knew Tiana would want something simple yet elegant." Steve explained as he brushed his hands over Tiana's. "This is the type of ring that I wanted. I mean, even before we were together I used to talk about what kind of ring I wanted. It's funny how some things work out." She smiled, as leaned her head against him affectionately. He kissed the top of her head. "Well, this calls for a celebration! Let's go clubbing tonight! Drinks on me!" Tony shouted with excitement."Great idea, Tony." Steve agreed. He then whispered into Tiana's ear. "Do you want to go clubbing?" "Oh, absolutely! It's not every day that you can celebrate being engaged." Tiana smiled, locking lips with his. "I think you two should save that PDA for the club." Tony teased. "Shut up, Tony." Steve reacted, rolling his eyes in annoyance. 

"Tiana, why don't you come and get ready at my place tonight? I have the perfect outfit for you to wear." Nat suggested. "Okay, I would love to see what you picked out for me." Tiana smiled. "Steve, I'll come to your place to get ready," Bucky said. "Why can't I also come to your place?" Steve asked, feeling suspicious. "We want Tiana's outfit to be a surprise for you when you get there," Nat smirked. "Oh, okay. I'm looking forward to it then." Steve grinned. "Me too. I have a feeling it's going to blow your mind." Tiana smirked. "Oh, I  know it will." He grinned, slyly. 

"Honestly, you two need to get a room," Tony said, pretending to gag. Tiana and Steve rolled their eyes.  "You and Pepper also were like that and no one said anything about it," Steve said, defensively. "We weren't as excessive as you too. We were classy." Tony bragged. "Excuse me! How dare you insult my fiancé and I like that!" Steve fumed, walking towards Tony and grabbing his shirt. "Steve, calm down. It's okay." Tiana said gently, pulling him away from Tony. "I was just joking, capsicle. I didn't mean to offend you." Tony laughed. "Apologize to Tiana," Steve demanded. "I'm sorry, Tiana. Really, I am. I had no intention of insulting you." Tony apologised. "It's okay Tony, I knew you were joking." Tiana laughed awkwardly. "Let's get some air, shall we?" Tiana said to Steve as they walked out of the room. 

 "What the hell happened back there?" Tiana asked, angrily. "Tony was just being so infuriating. I couldn't help losing my temper. I hated the way he was talking about us, talking about you." Steve explained, clenching his fists. Tiana softened. "Oh, honey. It didn't matter to me. I knew he was joking. I'm sorry you took it so personally." Tiana empathised, cupping his cheek. He leaned into her touch, feeling calmer. "Don't let Tony get to you, you know how he is sometimes. He can be a bit of a prick now again." She comforted him. "Thank you, Tiana. I needed that." Steve smiled, pulling her into a hug. "Of course. I'll always be here for you. You're my fiancé now, you're even more precious to me now." She smiled. " I love you." He said, holding her tight. "I love you too." She reciprocated.

Later that evening, Tiana was getting ready at Nat's house. "I'm excited to see what outfit you have for me." Tiana grinned. "Oh, I know you're gonna love it. So will Steve." Nat winked. Nat then revealed the most beautiful, black dress Tiana had seen. It was a little scandalous but that was what she like about it. "Steve is going to freak out." Tiana giggled as she tried on the dress. "Wow! You look hot! Steve is not going to be able to keep his hands off you." Nat laughed. "That's the plan." Tiana laughed as well. Nat then changed into her own outfit. "You look stunning!" Tiana reacted, admiring Nat's navy blue dress. "Thanks!" After doing each other's make-up, they were ready to hit the club. 

Steve was talking to the members when Tiana and Nat arrived. She tapped his shoulder, to get his attention. When he saw her his jaw dropped. His pupils dilated as he took in Tiana's outfit, checking her out from head to toe. "Tiana, you look..." He stammered as his hands found her hips. "Sexy?" she finished for him, grinning devilishly. He just nodded, unable to form any words"You look pretty amazing yourself." She complimented his black and white outfit. He cleared his throat. "Would you like to dance?" he held out his hand, finally able to articulate his words. "I would love to." Tiana giggled, taking his hand. 

At the dance floor, Tiana wrapped her hands around Steve's neck as his hands landed on her hips. He pulled her closer, making sure that there was no space between them. "You know, I won't be able to keep my hands off you the whole night." He whispered seductively, his voice tickling her ear, causing her to shiver in response. "I know." She replied, moving even closer to him. "I think you made a dangerous decision." He teased. "Oh, is that so? What are you going to do about it?" She teased. He then whispered into her ear, her eyes widening in surprise. "Who knew you could be so naughty, Mr Rogers." She grinned. " You did." He grinned. 

"Those two are so deeply in love, it almost makes me sick," Bucky said, watching his best friend. "You sound like Tony." Nat laughed. "I love how happy they are, really but they are starting to become a little much. They are becoming the new Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian. I think they need to tone it down a bit." Bucky explained. "I don't think they reached that level yet. I like how they show their affection for each other. It's cute. We can also be just as affectionate as they  are sometimes." Nat said, defensively. "That's true." Bucky agreed as he pulled Nat closer to her. "Maybe we should give them a run for their money." He smirked, as he pulled Nat in for a kiss. "Hmm, maybe we should." She laughed, as she kissed Bucky.
