Tiana tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep. She got out of bed, annoyed from lack of sleep. She should feel at ease now, that she was no longer in danger. No one was trying to kill her anymore. She couldn't ignore that gnawing feeling that it wasn't over. She looked over at Steve who was fast asleep. She didn't want to worry him about her anxiety. It could just be that, anxiety and nothing more. She didn't want him to worry about something that could be nothing. She decided to ignore her uneasiness and move on. She kissed his forehead. She couldn't wait to become his wife. She thought this day would never come. She grew up thinking she was going to end up alone and no one would ever fall in love with her. Who knew she was going to fall in love with a superhero? She would sometimes pinch herself, to make sure she wasn't dreaming. She couldn't have been happier. She fell in love with the kindest, most handsome superhero. She was lucky.
She laid her head against the pillow. Hoping she would be able to sleep now. The next day she was starting her new job at a high school. Something she never thought she would do. She always taught children. She used to think it would be difficult to teach teenagers, they always seemed to be uninterested or a little bit too rowdy for her liking. This was the only job available. She wasn't going to turn this opportunity down. This would be an interesting challenge for her. Teaching teenagers. She let out a long sigh, she wasn't sure if she would do a good job at teaching teenagers. She hoped she can get through to them. She decided to let her mind stop stressing. There was nothing she could do now. The only thing she knew was that she was going to give her best. That's what was most important.
The next morning while Tiana was getting ready, Steve was in the kitchen making breakfast. Tiana was feeling a little anxious, unsure about how the day might go. It was weird feeling this nervous, she thought to herself. Whenever she approached teaching she would be the most confident. Teaching was really the only thing that made her feel good enough, the only thing that made her feel like she belonged somewhere. She finished doing her hair and make-up, taking one last glance in the mirror, she was satisfied with the way she looked for her first day.
Walking into the kitchen, Tiana caught a whiff or freshly made coffee and the sweet aroma of pancakes. Her favourite breakfast meal. She found Steve at the stove, flipping pancakes. She walked up to him and wrapped her arms around his waist. "Good Morning." He greeted with a smile. "Good Morning" She replied, happily. "So, you're excited for your first day." He asked, turning around to face her. "I think I'm more nervous than excited this time." Tiana answered, honestly. "Really?! You're usually pumped up and confident for your first days." Steve responded, surprised. "Is it because you'll be teaching high schoolers?" He asked, remembering that she never taught teenagers before. She nodded. "Don't worry. I'm sure it will be fine. You'll just charm them by being your amazing self and soon they will warm up to you. Everyone that meets you likes you. I don't think you'll have a problem with teenagers. I know you'll be a natural." Steve comforted her.
"Thanks, Steve. I needed to hear that. I'm glad you always believe in me." Tiana smiled, pulling Steve in for a quick kiss. "I'll always be to support you and have faith in you even if you don't." He smiled, kissing her forehead. "I love you." She smiled. "I love you too." He replied. "By the way, breakfast looks amazing." Tiana smiled, as she went to fill her cup of coffee. "I knew you would need your favourite breakfast for your first day," Steve replied. "You know me so well." Tiana smiled, still hugging Steve. "As much as I would like to hold you for the whole day, I think you should eat your breakfast so you don't get late." Steve laughed, giving her a quick peck before letting her go. "Good point." Tiana laughed, as she sat down and ate her breakfast.
Half an hour later, Tiana arrived at the school. "You will do great!" Steve encouraged her. "Thank you." She replied, gulping nervously. "Hope you enjoy your first day." Steve said, before kissing Tiana."Thanks, babe." She smiled, as she got out of the car. "I'll pick you up later, okay?" "Okay." She smiled, as she then watched Steve drive off. She was now alone, nerves still going crazy, as she stared towards the towering high school that stood before her.
