Chapter 3

Tiana stared at the note on the ground. She didn't need to guess who it was from. She just didn't think she would cross paths with her ever again. Rheya her ex-best friend, the person who kidnapped her and almost killed her. What scared Tiana the most was Rheya had to break in the house to leave her that message. Rheya was here and could have killed her. She was terrified. Rheya must have known Steve was out otherwise she would have never taken the chance.

Tiana was trembling with fear. She hoped Steve would come back soon. She missed him so much and she just wanted to be safe in his arms. She always felt the safest when she was with him. All of a sudden tears came pouring down her face. She so scared that Rheya could pop up from somewhere and kill her, and there would be no way she could defend herself. She still couldn't feel her legs. Steve, I need you. Please come back soon. She thought to herself.

She decided to lay down, suddenly losing her appetite. She felt guilty as Steve took his time to make her the delicious breakfast she had been craving for a while. She couldn't eat right now. Not after seeing the note. It made her feel nauseous. She laid in bed and sighed in frustration. When will this nightmare be over? Tiana, thought to herself. She just wanted Rheya to be caught and imprisoned. She just wanted to move on and live happily and stress free. Is it too much to ask for?

When Steve woke up, he decided to make Tiana some breakfast. He knew she had been craving a nice heart breakfast. He wanted to cheer her up after everything she had been through. He was so proud of how strong she has been over the past few weeks. She suffered so much pain and manages to still wake up with a smile on her face. She was the bravest person he has ever known. He was going to do everything he could to make her feel better. She deserved that. To make her feel extra special, he placed a sticky note on the place that said I love you so much :). He knew she would like that.

To his surprise, he found that Tiana was still fast asleep. He smiled, watching her sleep peacefully. She needs the rest. He placed the food on her bedside table.He then leaned over and placed a kiss on her forehead, as he whispered I love you in her ear. She didn't even stir. He laughed silently. She was so adorable when she slept. He loved her so much. He glanced at her one more time before he left.

Steve went to the pharmacy to get some painkillers for Tiana. He knew that she would be in pain after the being shot. He didn't want her to suffer. He was looking forward to taking care of Tiana for the next few days. He knew how stubborn she could be when it came to her letting go of her independence sometimes. He smiled to himself, he loved that about her. She could be the most stubborn person in the world, he would still be so in love with her.

Tiana heard the front door opening, she froze in panic. She wasn't sure if it was Steve or if was an intruder. She had no idea what to do. She couldn't even move. She was stuck in bed. The intruders could be walking toward her and she had no way of protecting herself. The only thing she could do was huddle under the covers and hope she doesn't get killed. The footsteps came closer. Then they came to a stop. "Tiana, are you okay?" She heard the familiar voice of Steve. She felt herself relax. " I am now." She said, as she revealed herself from under the covers. "What happened? Are you hurt?"Steve came rushing toward her, pulling her into his arms. She sighed, happily. She felt safe being in his arms, as she breathed him in. "Oh Steve, you wouldn't believe what happened.' Tiana said, holding tight onto Steve. "Try me."He countered. "I think Rheya was in the apartment." Tiana admitted, nervously as she pointed to the sticky note that laid on the bedside table.

Steve took the note and read it. He then crumbled it up in anger. "How the hell did she get inside?" He asked furiously. "I'm sorry I left you alone, Tiana. Especially in the state you're in. It would have been difficult to have defended yourself. I am so sorry. I'm not going to leave your side again. He said, holding her close as he kissed her head. "Steve, it's not your fault. I do wonder how she got inside. That scares me a lot." Tiana said her voice cracking as she clung onto Steve. "Everything is okay. I'm here now." He said soothingly. He then remembered the mess on the floor. "I'll be right back. Let me just clean all of this. I'll make you something else, okay?" Steve said, as Tiana reluctantly pulled away from him.

Half an hour later, Steve and Tiana were lying in bed together. Tiana just wanted to be as close to Steve as possible. She didn't want to leave his side. She knew she was being a little too clingy but Steve didn't mind cause he was wanted to make sure she was safe. Tiana still couldn't feel her legs, which annoyed her so much. She missed the freedom of being able to walk on her own. It was only the first day. Soon the two of them fell asleep in each others arms.

Tiana woke up with a start, her heart pounding in her chest. She thought she heard a noise coming from downstairs. She remained quiet, listening to hear if there was someone in the house. There was silence. She sighed in relief. She hated feeling so paranoid now. She can't keep living in fear. She didn't know if she could handle the stress anymore. She then turned to look at Steve, who was sleeping peacefully. She smiled at him, she knew he would do anything to protect her. She loved him so much for that. She hated to admit it but it was difficult being in love with a superhero. The constant danger and harm she has been put through could get a bit intense sometimes. There was one thought that kept popping up, but she kept ignoring it. It was too painful to think about fully. Would breaking up be better for her? Would she be safer? She hated having those kind of thoughts. She loved Steve so much. There was nothing that could make her leave him, despite all the dangerous situations she has been put it. She was not going to break Steve's heart. She laid down in bed, gently pressing a kiss to Steve's head.They both loved each other so much. Whatever happens, they will get through it together. Tiana soon drifted off to sleep again, falling into a deep slumber.

The next morning, Tiana woke up to Steve watching her. She laughed. "I know you think it's romantic, but it's kinda creepy." She laughed as Steve pulled her closer to him. "Sorry, I wasn't trying to be creepy. I was just so mesmerised by your beauty. I couldn't help but stare. I just got lost." He said sweetly as his eyes sparkled with happiness. Tiana laughed at his cuteness. "You're so cheesy sometimes." She giggled happily, as she snuggled into Steve. "I know." He smiled, as he kissed her gently. "Oh, I wish we could stay like this forever." Tiana sighed, as she closed her eyes. "Me too." Steve agreed. "As much as I would love to spend the whole day in bed with you, there is a lot of things that need to be done today.' Steve groaned, as he slowly pulled away from Tiana. "Aww. Can it not wait for another day." Tiana grumbled with a pout on her face."Unfortunately not. It needs to be done for today. Firstly, let me get you some food. I'm sure you're starving by now." He said, as he got out of bed. "Not really-" Tiana said as she was cut off by loud rumbling sound from her stomach. "Oh, I guess I am hungry." She laughed at herself. "I guess you are."Steve laughed as well.

Steve was about to leave when Tiana called out to him. "Take me with you. I don't want to be all alone in bed." She pouted, holding out her arms for him to carry her. "Aww. Is the baby going to be lonely?" He teased as he walked towards her. "Yes! very." She whined, her arms still holding out towards Steve. "I guess I have no choice then." He smiled, as he gently picked her up bridal style. Tiana immediately made herself comfy, as she snuggled closer to the crook of his neck. "Ah, perfect." She sighed happily, as she breathed him in. "Hmm, you smell nice. Like cinnamon." She closed her eyes contentedly. "I'm glad you like it." He chuckled, lightly. "How are you feeling?" Steve asked, kindly as they walked down stairs. "Feel anything in your legs yet?" "You're only asking because you're already tired of carrying me places." Tiana teased, playfully. "Nooo. I'm being sincere. I would love nothing more than to be carrying you all over the place. It's very romantic." He said, defensively. "I know Rogers. I'm just teasing. To answer your question. I'm feeling okay, I guess, I can move my toes a little but other than that, not much improvement." Tiana said, shaking her head in disappointment. "At least you can move your toes. That's progress isn't it?" He said with a smile, trying to cheer her up. "It is." She smiled, half-heartedly.

Steve gently placed her on the stool, although he was a little worried that she might fall off. "Are you okay here? Or should I move you to the couch?" He asked, feeling anxious. "I'm all good here. Im just happy to be where you are. Besides, I really love watching you cook." Tiana said, flirtatiously. Steve bent down and gave her a quick pecan her lips. "I love you." He said, with a huge grin on his face. "I love you too." She said, happily as she leaned on the counter. "Im going to make pancakes. Is that okay? I can make anything else if you want? He asked, sweetly. "Pancakes are perfect." She smiled, happily. Steve really is the most perfect person in the world. Tiana thought to herself. She was happy in this moment with him. Nothing could stop her from enjoying this moment with him.
