"Running away?!" Chris exclaimed. "But that's crazy!"

"And we'd miss you!" Arnold chimed in.

"But don't you see? This would help solve everything!" Kevin told them. "Connor wont have to worry about being all on his own now, and I won't have to go on that mission for two years."

"Instead you'll be gone forever..." Arnold muttered.

"Not forever, bud. We'd make sure to visit you guys all the time. But right now, our parents aren't doing the best for us, and it's better to leave this city behind."

"How are you even going to run away? Last time I checked, neither of you had your own cars," Naba pointed out.

"Right, yeah, that's our only problem..." Kevin faltered, staring down at the ground.

"You could use my car." He looked back up to see it had been Arnold who'd said that. "I never use it anyways. It would do you guys much better."

"You'd really just give us your car?"

"Yeah. Like a parting gift," Arnold smiled.

"Thank you." Kevin gave him a small side hug. "I'm sure Con will be excited to know that we now have a mode of transportation."

"Where do you plan on going?" James asked.

"We were thinking maybe New York. It is the home to Broadway, and I know how much Con loves theatre. And I'm sure we could find a nice apartment up there."

"That's quite a far ways away," Naba said. "How often would you come to visit?"

"As often as we can. Still, we have just over a week before Connor gets discharged. We'll still be here for a little while."

"I can't believe that you guys are leaving, just like that," Chris said. "And you're sure you'll be able to pull this off? Especially with your parents?"

"I don't know, but I'm willing to try. They can't really stop me anyways. It's not like they can lock me inside of the house. I just can't wait to finally not have to worry about them anymore."

"Well I wish the two of you the best of luck in finding a new place to live," Naba smiled at him.

"Thank you, Naba," Kevin smiled back. "I guess I should go visit Connor again. We still need to plan out exactly everything for when we travel." He stood up from the chairs they'd been sitting on in the lobby before making his way back down the hallway and to Connor's room.

. . .

Everything had finally been planned out. They'd figured out where exactly they planned to move to, where they wanted to go to college together, and how exactly they'd get there.

Now all that they had to do was wait.

And wait.

And keep waiting.

Until finally, it was Connor's last day at the hospital.

He'd been told he could leave around noon, with all of his friends meeting up with him at the hospital to say their last goodbyes before he and Kevin would be running away together, far away from Salt Lake City.

Kevin had secretly been packing his things away at home, hoping that his parents wouldn't find it as he prepared to leave them behind for good. Connor, on the other hand, didn't have much besides what he had at the hospital, and there was no hope in going back to his house to retrieve his belongings, so Kevin just made a promise to get him some new things on their way up to New York.

Arnold had finally given Kevin the keys to his new car, which was just a small black sedan; though it was plenty enough for just two of them. Arnold was happy that he could contribute to their plan of running off, and made sure to give Kevin an extra long hug.
