Luna POV:
Looking through my bags, I wait for Ginny outside the Gryffindor common room. I'm staying at The Burrow, so I have to wait for Ginny so we can both go. I watch Neville, Seamus and Dean walk out, followed by Hermione, and we exchange our addresses before parting our ways. Finally, I see Ginny climb out, and I smile at the sight of her.
"I've been waiting in the Gryffindor common room for a while now! I thought you were going to come in, but I realized that you didn't know the password, so I decided to come looking for you!" Ginny says happily, and we laugh. "Come in, we can go by floo powder."
Ginny says the password to the Gryffindor common room, and we walk over to the fireplace. I look around at the furniture, interested. "I like your common room," I say, "It looks very cozy."
Ginny laughs and says, "Does it? I quite like it, but I don't think there's enough lighting." She points vaguely at the lighting before turning pink and hastily looking for the floo powder. She finds it, but she grabs it too quickly and knocks it over, spilling floo powder all over the place. She curses herself furiously before cleaning it up and apologizing, to which I answer, "It's fine, it's not like we're in any rush, right?"
I grab a handful of floo powder and cry, "The Burrow!" I see flames engulf me before spinning into a fireplace. I see a small room before with couches and chairs. I smile at the sight of Ginny's home, before the flames turn green again and Ginny knocks me over, making us both fall. I yelp as I fall to the ground, Ginny on me. I feel my face getting hot, and I stare back at Ginny for a moment. Then, we both giggle nervously before getting up as Ginny's mom arrives.
"Hello, Ginny, my dear!" She says, rushing over to Ginny and pulling her in an embrace. "And you must be Luna! Ginny's told me a lot about you, dear." She pulls me in a hug while I greet her, and I see more people greeting me.
"Ron! Harry! Hi!" I say happily, running over to my friends. Ron and Harry break into smiles, greeting me, before I turn over to George. "Hi George! I was just wondering if you sell pygmy puffs."
"Oh, yes, we- I do," George says. He clearly misses his twin, I thought to myself. He still thinks he's alive. Nevertheless, he still greets me just as happily. I finally turn to the last Weasley brother, the one with horn-rimmed glasses.
"You must be Percy?" I ask him. He nods and greets me, looking nervous.
"Come out with Ginny, it's beautiful outside. I'll prepare dinner," Mrs. Weasley says.
"C'mon!" Ginny exclaims, and we run outside before Ginny stops abruptly. Pointing at a group of thestrals, she says, "What are they?"
"Oh, thestrals, of course!" I answer, "You can only see them when you've seen death. We can feed them!"
"What do they eat?"
"Apples and meat," I answer, and Ginny rushes back inside, only re-appearing with a bag of apples. I grab an apple, and I see a thestral bounding over to me. I laugh and feed it the apple, and Ginny looks at me carefully and does the same, surprised at how many thestrals come over to her and promptly dropping the apple. We laugh and take turns feeding the thestrals and exchanging small talk, before Mrs. Weasley tells us to come inside for dinner. I sit next to Ginny, and we eat roast chicken, mashed potatoes, and salad.
As I sit with Ginny, I feel so lighthearted and bouncy. As long as Ginny's with me, I feel like there's no wrong in the world, even if that isn't entirely the case yet. There are still people to free, and people to trap in Azkaban. There could still be murderers on the loose, and death eaters trying to avenge Voldemort. But for now, as I talk with Ginny, it feels like I'm in the best dream ever. No, not like that....
It's like Ginny is the best dream ever.
