Ginny POV:
Platonic.
(of love or friendship) intimate and affectionate but not sexual.
In other words: The chemistry that Luna and I are having. It's purely platonic, it's purely platonic, it's purely platonic....
This string of thought replays in my head, over and over again, in different voices, in different tones, and every time it replays, I can't help but tell myself that I'm lying. You'd think after a million attempts of trying to convince me of something, I would eventually give in, but something just tells me that I won't. Ever. Give. In. I give myself a mental slap, before pretending that everything is normal. Except that it really isn't that normal.
For one, people keep coming to our house to interview Harry. Probably just a bunch of people who work for the ministry of magic, but Harry won't tell a single thing. It makes me happy to see how persistent Harry can be. Speaking of Harry, him and Hermione have come over for the summer, so the house has a lot more people. We never have a single boring day with people like Harry, Hermione and Luna around us all the time. We usually trade stories about our adventures this year. Man, just thinking about Luna makes my heart beat faster. It's purely platonic, It's purely platonic....
"Are you ok, Ginny? You seem put off," Hermione asks me in my room, bring me back to reality.
"H-How do you tell someone you like them when you've known them for years? It just seems weird, like we still have friendship, but it might be turning into something else..." I trail off, flushing. Hermione looks at me, clearly confused.
"I thought you're still dating Harry?"
"I am, I just- have feelings for someone else now, and I don't know how to get rid of it. How come it's so easy for you? You and Ron just came together so easily."
Hermione lets out a laugh. "Oh, if only you knew. Ron is the most clingy person to have as your boyfriend, it's like having a kid. But Ron and I pulled through, and so far it's been an amazing time."
"Really?"
"Yeah, all relationships have flaws," Hermione shrugs, "Now, you said you liked someone?"
"Oh, yeah! Er-" I cut myself off, trying to pick out what I want to say, before saying, "The person- they're so pretty and smart and kind. Being with them is like a dream." I make sure to use "they", and after I look at the sunset, hoping Hermione doesn't ask so many questions.
"How long have you known them?"
"My whole life, to be honest," I say, thinking of every memory I've had with Luna.
"Well, I reckon you should tell this person. You clearly care about them, and from what I've heard, this person cares about you, too. Be honest when you're confessing to them. Keep in mind that this person knows the real you, not some fake you. After all, they've known you for what seems like forever, right?" Hermione says thoughtfully.
"Thanks, Hermione. Can you not tell anyone that we had this conversation?"
"Of course. Wait- how are you going to tell Harry?"
At that moment, I hear a knock on my door. Hermione opens it, and I see Harry, his hair looking messier than ever. "Ginny, can you come for a moment? I want to talk to you."
"S-Sure," I say, sounding nervous. We walk to Ron's room, and we sit down on his bed. Harry takes my arm, and looks at me very seriously. "Ginny, I've thinking about this for a while. I- I want to break up with you."
I'm sure that Harry thought that I would've looked hurt or angry, but I simply just stare at him. "Why?"
"I don't know. I've just had feelings for someone else now. And we haven't really been connecting as much. I hope you understand."
"Oh, Harry, I've been thinking the same thing. I've been having feelings for someone else too."
Harry smiles. "Really?"
"Yes, Harry. I understand. Does this mean that we've officially broken up?"
Harry looks at me, hesitating for a moment, before nodding.
"Yes, Ginny. We've broken up."
