Ginny POV:
"Look! There's two owls!" Harry says, pointing at the window. Sure enough, two owls are flying towards The Burrow. Luna runs to the window and unties the letters attached to their legs.
"It's our Hogwarts letters. Ginny, here's yours," Luna says, opening her letter. I look over my letter, before gasping.
"I've been made Quidditch captain!" I exclaim, showing everyone the last part of the letter. Luna, Ron and Harry break out into smiles.
"I knew you could do it!" Harry says, patting me on the back.
"Well done," Ron says, looking a little bitter, "I wish I became Quidditch captain."
"You were already made a prefect, there would be no point making you Quidditch captain too, Hermione laughs.
"You know, maybe professor McGonagall will make me the commentator again. D'you think i should sign up again?" Luna asks thoughtfully.
"I- I don't think so. You kept going off track, you remember? I never knew half the things you said about the clouds," Ron says, laughing. Everyone laughs, remembering the day when Luna commentated a Quidditch match.
"I think you might be able to do it," I say, "If no one else wants to do it, you'll do it."
"Now I just have to think of ways to erase everyone else's name on the sign up sheet," Luna says, tapping her chin. Everyone breaks into laughter again, and my mom comes in the room.
"Oh, you got your Hogwarts letters! Let's go to Diagon Alley, shall we?"
"Of course," I say, and Luna and I walk over to the fireplace, grabbing floo powder. "Diagon Alley!" We shout, and we spin quickly until we climb out of a fireplace in Diagon Alley. We see my mom climb out of the fireplace, too, and we rush off to grab our school supplies.
"Where do you want to go first?" I ask Luna. She looks around, before pointing at Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. We walk in, and we immediately get hit with such bright displays. I spot a few people there, like Neville Longbottom. With a sickening jolt, I realize that he's pulled Luna aside and he's asking her something, blushing. I don't want that image in my head for the rest of the day, so I turn around to see George standing in front of me. I jump back, and George smirks.
"Looking at someone?" He asks. I blush.
"N-No," I say, before scurrying off. I pretend to look at a couple of nosebleed nougats, when I'm really looking at George's expression. He seems to be suspecting something. Did Hermione tell him? Or did he think that I liked Neville? Ugh, relationships suck sometimes. Suddenly, I see Luna coming towards me.
"I'm done shopping. I bought some pygmy puffs, what about you?"
"Oh, I'm not buying anything today, I just wanted to look around. Do you want to go somewhere else?"
"Yeah, these displays are burning my eyeballs. You can choose the place this time."
We go out of the store, and I see The Three Broomsticks. We decide to get a drink there, and we get a table to ourselves.
"What would you like?" The waiter asks me.
"Oh, a butterbeer," I say.
"Same," Luna says. She looks dreamily at nothing in particular. Unable to hold myself back any longer, I say, "Luna, I saw you with Neville. What did he want from you?"
Luna turns pink, but she says, "What are you talking about?"
"He looked red in the face, like he wanted to tell you something. What did he say?"
Luna looks very embarrased, before taking my hand, and saying, "It's a long story."
"Well, then, tell me. I like stories," I say, a little irritated. Luna just stares at me for a while, probably choosing what she wants to say.
She then takes deep breath, and begins telling me what Neville told her.
