Chapter 3

Going to school the next day and week was the most awkward thing you'd ever done.

You and Nico had millions of encounters and each one you both were heavily embarrassed during each one.

You were 100% certain that Nico was gay and not straight at all. He was just embarrassed about Percy and Hazel's stupid assumptions about you two.

So now Nico couldn't even stand to be near you, it sucked. For you especially.

All of you sat at lunch even Leo seemed more quiet than usual. You sat in silence while picking at your food. You loved your brother and all of the 7 but you want to scream at them because they probably ruined any chance you had with Nico, probably even your friendship. There was a depressing vibe going around so Piper decided to pick it up.

"So, any good news?" She asked.

"I got an A on my Calculus test." Reyna responded.

Annabeth shrugged next to you. "I got an A plus on advanced calculus."

Everyone rolled their eyes at her bragging. "No, I meant any good news?" she asked, though it was like she was pointing to Nico who blushed and looked down.

"W-Will Solace and I are dating." He mumbled only soft enough for you and the other's around him to hear.

You choked your (F/F), hoping no one noticed.

He was dating Will?! Pain swept throughout your entire body as you stood up.

You ran from the lunch room and ran, pushing kids out of your way. You kept on going until you finally reached the bathroom.

You slammed the door of the cubical letting out all of the tears that you've been keeping in. Your back slid against the door and you buried your head in between your knees.

After 10 minutes of a good cry, you realized your stuff in the lunch room.

You stood up and looked at yourself in the mirror. Red puffy eyes, a red nose and messy hair that looked like a bird's nest. You re-tied your hair and washed your face hoping no one would notice.

You slowly made your way back into the cafeteria. No one in the hallway seemed to notice something was wrong at least.

That's good because you didn't want anyone gawking at you, red eyes from crying over a stupid crush.

You crept into the cafeteria surprising everyone that was there when you stepped up to collect your stuff. Nico put a hand on your shoulder stopping you in the doorway.

"(N/N)-" He began. You jerked his arm off slipping your bag onto your shoulders sweeping out of the room ignoring his calls.

It's been 3 months. You haven't talked to Nico for three months, much less seen him.

You changed your schedules getting out of all the classes you and Nico shared, you would have swapped schools if it weren't for Percy.

You sat at a different lunch table. With Leo. You two have been becoming better friends than you used to be.

At times, you didn't know why you were pushing Nico away. You still had a crush on him. A huge stupid crush, no matter what, it never went away.

You cried yourself silently to sleep and cut your wrists every time Will posted something on social media about him and Nico. Their dates, dances, just regular hanging out.

He relentlessly texted you everyday.

You cried every time he sent you those too.

3 months have gone by. And you're numb. Numb to anything and everything relating to Nico. You only wore long-sleeve and black, you used concealer and foundation to cover the scars and dark circles under your eyes.

His posts with Will are heartburn now, still painful but numb. They remind you he's still alive at least.

You're fine without him. Leo is fine enough. You hung a lot with him and when you do it numbs the pain with Nico even more, as if it were nonexistent.

He makes you laugh with his jokes, his smile makes you smile. He makes your depression go away and that's good enough for you.

You look over at Le when you hang out as the sun sets. "Thanks." You said.

He looks over at you confused. "What for?"

"For making me happy. Being my friend."

"Well sure, it's no problem." He reaches over and grabs your hand. You sit in the sun enjoying each other's company.

You're packing up your work from Calculus when the teacher comes up to you. "Ms (Y/L/N)?"

You look up. "Yes?"

"Talk to me after school. It's about your grades."

You cringe. You're grades have been dropping. Badly.

"Yes, I will."

School ends and as you walk to her class you can hear her talking. "Mr di Angelo, you did excellent on that quiz." She was saying.

You stopped in front of the classroom and freeze dead in your tracks. Mr di Angelo, that had to be Nico.

You go to turn around but it's too late, Nico walks out of the classroom and when he sees you, he stops in his tracks.

He looks really confused. Then angry and finally he's sad. He runs up to you and wraps you in a bone crushing hug.

You just there in shock and make no move to hug back. He let's go and lightly punches you on the arm.

"(Y/N) (Y/L/N)! DO YOU KNOW HOW ANGRY I AM?!" You flinch.

You panic and turn around, walking away, chiding yourself for you stupid you were acting. Nico catches up to you in flash, blocking your path.

"Nico move."

"No, you have to talk to me."

"Nico-"

"No (Y/N)."

You turn to go past him and you squeal when he grabs your shoulders and pushes you into the lockers, pinning you there so you couldn't move.

(Y/N) (Y/L/N) you are going to talk to me. Come over to my house tonight. It'll just be us, I don't live with anyone so we'll be alone."

You were barely listening. Your faces were inches away from each other though that realization quickly went away when you realized he was pinning you  by your wrists where the cuts were opening a little. You winced and he let go.

"Fine I'll be there but right now I got to go." You said holding your wrists and walking away.
