Something loud dings me awake.

"Mm!" Oh, it's my phone. That scared me for a moment. Wren texted me something:

[9:12 AM]

[W_fox]
wanna go somewhere cool?

Wren's texting ME!

[jay_05]
k. where do we meet

[W_fox]
wait for me at ur place. u want to walk or bike?

[jay_05]
walk if its ok with u

[W_fox]
sure

Yes! I'm going somewhere with Wren! Where could we be going? Maybe she just asked me out. Never mind, she doesn't seem like the kind to ask out people. I rapidly eat breakfast, clean up and put on the usual bland colours. My bag has some 'essentials' that I like to bring wherever I go, including my sketchbook. I take that too and sit on the stairs of the porch, insanely excited to see Wren. My crush is bringing me somewhere!

Maybe I got ready a bit too early. Wren shows up all the way down the street after around 20 minutes.

I run to meet up with her "Finally! What took you so long?"

"Well you said we're walking, so I had to walk all the way here, instead of skateboarding. That means ten more minutes on the time it takes to get here," she says. Oh. I feel bad now about making her walk a long distance.

"Sorry for making you walk a long way."

"Nah, it's fine." Wren puts a hand on my shoulder. A hand on my shoulder! "Let's go now." She pulls me by the hand in the direction of where she came from. WREN IS HOLDING MY HAND!

Unfortunately, Wren realizes and drops it immediately. "Oh shi..." she mutters.

It makes sense that after accidentally touching someone's hand that it'd be awkward. I speak up to break the silence. "Where're we going?"

"Somewhere cool. You'll meet new people."

"It's not another party, is it?" I don't like parties anymore. Only ones by friends.

Wren smiles back at me. She's really pretty in the sun. "Nope. I think you'll learn more about me when we get there."

We walk straight for a while before turning right and walking for a while again. I should've said to bike instead. But a walk is more romantic, even if Wren doesn't think it is.

Eventually I see a park up ahead, different from the one where Wren told me about her dad. When we get closer I can hear things that sound like a ton of skateboards. Is this a skate park?

Sure enough, it is. A big concrete area with a lot of curves and even this one part that looks like a massive hollow concrete tube. Colourful graffiti decorates the surface of the skate park and rails are dotted along the edges. There are a ton of skaters here, winding around each other with uniquely customized skateboards and all wearing baggy clothes. Most of them look the same age as us or older. I clearly do not fit in here. This place could be as bad as the party. Almost everyone here is a guy, and they all look scary.
