And that's exactly what I do. It's easy because Zoe already doesn't want to talk to me, and Wren seems to act normal about everything except not talking to me.

Now school is even more lonely and boring without Zoe or Wren. Alex is, as usual, off with his sporty friends. I'll have to be with Amélie indefinitely.

"I want to confess something to you," says Amélie.

"Sure."

She looks around cautiously. "It is like how tu aimes Wren. J'avoue, I like someone here as well."

"Who?" I didn't know Amélie would be the type to like someone. She said she's all busy with her circuits.

Amélie whispers into my ear. "Alex."

ALEX? This is his lucky day. He's had so many crushes in the past, but none of them have liked him back. "Oh damn. Since when?"

"Since I arrivé ici. Alex is energetic. And he is mingon. Very cute." She giggles.

I'm not so sure if she and Alex have a good chance of being with each other. They're really different. But I heard somewhere about opposites attracting, so maybe it might work out.

"Ok then, good luck."

I'm about to turn away but Amélie turns me around to face her again. "Um, j'ai besion some help. I want to confess my écraser sur lui. Can you give this to him?" She's holding out an envelope with "Alex" written in her pretty handwriting, same as on the chalkboard outside of her bedroom.

This is big. Now I'm in charge of how her crush life goes. "Sure, I can do that."

"Merci beaucoup." I'll give it to Alex in P.E. so he won't be bombarding me with questions the whole day.

Out of the corner of my eye Zoe's glaring at me. It's tempting to glare back.

At least Geometry is plain old, boring Geometry with Alex.  Somehow Wren beats me to my lunch spot and no way am I sitting with her anymore. I sit as far as I can from her along the wall, but close enough so that I can still look at her.

Amélie keeps bugging me in Drawing about how grateful she is. "Jae, je ne peux pas dire how grateful I am that you are helping me."

"Ok ok, I get it!"

Me, Zoe and Wren end up in the same group for P.E. Along with us are 4 other boys who stick together and forget about us. Zoe has a half-angry look while Wren's face is a cross between sad and guilty. None of us are making any eye contact. This won't be fun.

I speak up, "Hey."

Only Wren answers, "Hey."

We're supposed to be practicing passing
basketballs to each other but I'm pretty sure it won't go well.

"Zoe." I pass a ball to her.

She quickly snatches it and angrily throws it at Wren, who almost gets hit in the face. "Dude..."
I know this is so wrong to think, but Zoe looks sort of cute when she's angry. Totally wrong to think that, though.

Clearly this thing isn't going to work. "Hold up." I run to Mr. Macleod and he splits us up after I struggle to convince him that it's a 'friend issue'. I'd rather be in a group with completely random people than be in one with Zoe and Wren right now. After P.E. ends, I give Alex Amélie's love note. Ok, maybe it isn't a love note.

"What? Who's this from?" Alex turns around the envelope in his hands.

It has to be a surprise. "Just open it."
