JadeAfter stressing for months, Lee got his scores back and passed with flying colors. I'm so proud of him because when I say he was an anxious mess. That would actually be an understatement. All he has that's school related is a championship football game, then he's finally finished his last year of uni.
Meanwhile, I have another year.
Said game is tonight and I'm excited. I'm currently in my own customized jersey that said "Lady Pinnock" on the back and his number.
The football team recently got sponsored by the Premier League and the whole school is hyped. This is our third game with the sponsorship and each time, we won.
If that isn't a direct invitation to be professionals, I don't know what is.
I'm going to the game with my friends, while most of his are on the field.
The bleachers were filled with excited people; both of our families were here and I knew if I saw one, I'd see the other since they're in the same section.
"Have you seen me mam?" I ask Perrie, scanning the faces. "No... wait, there they are," she gestures to the other side of the bleachers. I spot the three women and two little boys a few rows up and soon, one notices me.
Mam beckons me over with her slumbering grandson fast asleep in her lap. I excuse myself before making my way over to them. I greet them all, hugging them and giving my mam a kiss on the cheek. Little Karl was dead to the loud world, so I just kiss his forehead.
Kailum, Lee's eight year old nephew, was bouncing in his seat, sporting a hoodie with our school on it. "Hey, Jade. Looking beautiful as always," he says and I laugh before I hug him too.
"Thank you, handsome."
"Are you and my uncle really getting married?" He asks with a little pout. I nod at him. "So... that would make you my auntie?" I nod again and he makes a thinking face.
"Is it bad that I don't like that equation?"
"Kai," his mother chastises and he apologizes. He looks just like his mam, but acts like his uncle sometimes. I always wonder if our child would take more after me or him. Either way, that baby's gonna be gorgeous.
After conversing with them a bit, I go back to my friends as they were getting ready to start.
On the team with Lee was Andre, Jesse, that guy I met that one time Harry, and Liam. Despite what many may expect, Liam and Lee are an amazing duo against this team.
Honestly, Lee with anyone would be a good duo. He's a good footballer, but a better teammate.
Almost an hour in, the score was 1-2, they were in the league. From where I stood, I could see the frustration on some of our guys' faces. Lee sat on the bench with a towel around his neck and a water bottle in his hand.
"Think they can bounce back?" Jesy asks from beside me while Perrie was on my other side on Alexis's lap. "We're known for our bounce backs," I answer distractedly. Even though Lee was on the bench, the game continued.
That Harry guy took his spot and honestly, he's rubbish. I'm saying that unbiasedly.
I get up from my spot and head down to where he was and sat next to him. "You okay?" I ask since he has his head hanging down. "Worried. I really don't wanna lose my very last game and it's the championship," he takes a sip of water, swishes it in his mouth then spits most of it out.
I start rubbing his back, "I know, baby boy. But you're the bounce back king." He chuckles heartedly, "I wouldn't say that."
