The Friday that followed the movie night, Shine and Wally signed off with Aizawa for the day and pretended to head back to the dorms.

"Are you sure about doing this tonight?" Wally asked. "It's been quieter the last few days, and things with the three kids are finally going better."

Momo, Todoroki, and Bakugo had had plenty of questions for them, after making their decision, mostly about how Shine and Wally thought they could improve as heroes based on their own training. That wasn't easy to answer without more real life experience.

Todoroki had also told Shine in private the full truth about Stain and what Iida had planned to do.

He wasn't going to at first, but now that he had accepted they were truly emissaries from another world, he thought the full truth might matter to them a lot more.

He seemed to feel more comfortable with Shine still--either her past, or that he didn't like men as much as women because of his dad. Or both.

Shine had pretty much guessed Iida must have been looking for Stain on purpose, since he had told her about his brother himself, and Todoroki had really seemed to be dancing around saying something when he told the tale. But she was stunned by how dark it really was. Iida trying to arrest Stain would have been her guess before trying to kill him.

"He's learned his lesson," Todoroki said. "We never even told the police the truth. I think his mentor might have suspected it, but he never asked."

"You realize that if Iida was willing to cross that line, he shouldn't be a hero," Shine said, raising an eyebrow.

"I think he deserves a chance to try again," Todoroki said. "No one is perfect, Miss Likstar. It was only one sin."

"But just the kind someone like him would commit. People who are so strict are always the ones who believe others deserve to die for not agreeing with their standards... And you all have the gall to accuse us of being extreme." Shine couldn't believe Iida's nerve now that she heard this.

"I think that's why he's so strict, so he doesn't make the mistake again." Todoroki was profound.

Shine calmed. "Yes...you're right. And I believe in second chances...but it's nothing he'll learn here, how to control that self righteous anger. Not that it's so wrong to be mad about his brother, but it's not even a life for a life--his brother survived. I can't possibly condone that. I'm glad you told me, but, Iida is someone I will have to keep an eye on now."

"You're not going to do anything to stop him from being a hero, are you?" Todoroki somehow thought she could do this, though she had zero official power.

"No, it's not my call what he does with his life. Even if I think he shouldn't be a hero without some intensive soul searching, I can't stop it. We really provide counsel mostly, Todoroki. Hmm, I've been meaning to ask, can I use your first name? I know it's not formal, but your father's name is Todoroki also, and that keeps being weird for me to think about. Plus, in America, we almost never use last names outside the military and formal events."

"I'm not very particular about that kind of thing if you want to use it, but other people might think we're close if you do," Todoroki said.

"I don't care if they do, but if you would rather they not know that, I understand." Shine looked a bit sad though.

"I'll just tell them it's because you're American," Todoroki decided, not wanting to hurt her feelings.

"Okay." Shine brightened. "Thank you. It's much easier to say Shoto anyway."
