FORTUNATELY, AFTER THE unexpected encounter with Jungkook, the rest of my day passed without any more special occurrences.
Well, except for an unpleasant run-in with Mr. Blockhead, that is.
He had deliberately bumped into me while I was walking out of the Photography class and I had quickly learnt that his name was Junsu, and also that he hated my guts for disrespecting him this morning.
How could shutting down someone's inappropriate and unwanted advances, even if that someone was a senior, count as being disrespectful?
It didn't help that Taehee - the girl I'd seen storming out of Jungkook's room yesterday - was also now going out with Junsu, giving him an even bigger incentive to get even with me.
Apparently, Taehee had this stupid misunderstanding that Jungkook and I liked each other and that was why he'd turned down the offer to go out with her.
I rolled my eyes. I couldn't believe she was dense enough to draw such a ridiculous conclusion.
And I wasn't usually one to believe in stereotypes, especially those enforced by superfluous chick flicks that unnecessarily emphasised upon the different 'cliques' in high school, playing up their importance and essentially portraying them in a manner that was nothing short of questionable; but how Taehee and Junsu acted really challenged my beliefs.
It was like Taehee was hell-bent on proving to me that pretty girls who were blessed in the beauty department were all injudicious and empty-headed, seriously lacking in the brain department. And Junsu? He was like every other jock portrayed in one of those foolish high school melodramas - overly aggressive, conceited beyond belief and utterly and completely dam foolish!
I couldn't understand how two people who were a year older than me, both in age and experience, could be hare-brained enough to assume that Jungkook had feelings for me? I didn't even know anything about Jeon Jungkook except his freaking full name for crying out loud!
Shaking my head, I checked my wristwatch before deciding to get something to eat from the convenience store next door. It was late in the afternoon and I figured it would be better to eat before I settled in for the night.
I also hadn't been able to eat lunch and my stomach was growling uncontrollably, making me irritable. Sighing, I got up from the pink mattress that the owner of the sauna had provided me with. It was thin but did the job.
Not that I had any right to complain.
They had given me everything I could possible need to live here - a mattress to sleep on, a clean bathroom to shower in and breakfast; and it was more than my money's worth.
I barely had any money to spend anyway, just an allowance of two hundred thousand won that my mother had forcefully given to me before coming here.
I hadn't wanted to accept it since my scholarship covered everything from the tuition to the accommodation, but now I was glad that I had. This money, however inadequate in a city as expensive as Seoul, was still enough to sustain me for a good twenty days. And I planned to get a job within those twenty days, before my money ran out.
