Meredith was back. Derek had seen her when her and her mother were moving back into their house. Meredith had been gone for about 9 months. she had missed her entire kindergarten year here but now it was summer which meant they could play. He was really excited to see Meredith again. He had thought she wasn't coming back but now she was sitting on her front porch and he was really excited to see her. He didn't really know why. 9 year-olds weren't supposed to be really excited to see 6 year-olds, but Meredith was a really cool 6 year-old so it was okay. She was like if Batman was a 6 year-old. Well maybe not Batman because Batman was a dude. She can be Wonder Woman. She's like if Wonder Woman was a 6 year-old. And you would be crazy not to want to hang out with Wonder Woman.

"Hi Wonder Woman!" He waved to Meredith.

"What?" Meredith turned to see him. "Derek!" She jumped off her swing and ran to him. The second she reached him she wrapped her arms around him. "I missed you."

"I missed you too Wonder Woman." He said, hugging her back.

"Wonder Woman?" Meredith questioned.

"Yea, because you are really cool like Wonder Woman." He said.

"Oh. You're really cool too!" Meredith said as she detached from him.

"I know." He smirked.

"You're like Wonder Woman too." She smiled.

"No I'm not." Derek frowned.

"Yes you are. You're cool so you're like Wonder Woman." Meredith said.

"But I'm a boy." Derek said.

"So?"

"So boys can't be Wonder Woman."

"Why not?"

"Cause Wonder Woman is a girl."

"So?" Meredith said.

"So I'm a boy so I can't be Wonder Woman cause she is a girl."

"Why?" Meredith smiled seeing Derek get frustrated.

"I can't be Wonder Woman cause..." He leaned in close to her face. "I'm Superman. But you have to promise not to tell anyone. It's my secret identity."

"Ok. I won't tell anyone." Her face became gravely serious.

"Promise?" Derek asked.

"I Promise."

"I missed you a lot Meredith." He smiled as he messed up her hair.

"I know." Meredith smiled sweetly at him.

"Really? How do you know?" Derek asked.

"Cause you told me you would before I left." She said as she grabbed his hand and they started walking towards his house.

"So how was your kindergarten?" Derek asked.

"It was good. The other kids were really stupid though." Meredith said.

"I thought that in kindergarten too! All the other kids even made Mark look not stupid."

"Really!" Meredith laughed.

"Yea. Are you going to start the first grade with Chuck?" Derek asked.

"Yup. I'm really excited to start school with Chuck, she's my bestest friend. Or she was. She didn't get a new best friend right?" Meredith asked with worry on her face.

"No, she made friends but none of them were as good as you." Derek said.

"Okay. That's good." Meredith breathed.

"So if Chuck is your best friend, what am I?" Derek asked with a smirk.

"Hmm. You're- You're my..." She thought for a few seconds, "You're my Derek!" She exclaimed.

"I'm your Derek?" Derek asked as his smirk turned into a smile.

"Yup."

"And you're my Meredith." Derek said.

"Yup." She paused. "You didn't find another Meredith when I was gone right?"

"No." He shook his head. "I don't think there are any other Meredith's like you. Did you find another Derek in Boston?"

"Nope." She sighed. "There were no Derek's in Boston."

"Well, you are back in Seattle and there is a Derek in Seattle." He said.

"My Derek is in Seattle!" She exclaimed.

"And now my Meredith is in Seattle." He said.
