She finally reached the doorstep of the Lee residence. She could see his car parked outside, along with another car, who she assumed was one of his parent's. She reached her arm out to ring the doorbell, but lingered over the button.
It was harder than she thought it would be. She had never thought it'd be hard to talk to Taeyong, given their history. He had always came up to her and teased her, and it was easy, she was used to it. Having him closed up, and shut off away from her was driving her crazy. It wasn't normal.
If only he would've texted me back.
According to Doyoung, he was sick. Jennie didn't believe that statement. He wasn't that sick that he couldn't text her back, but tell Doyoung he'd be out. She was his partner! Why wouldn't he tell her?
Before she got too worked up again in her thoughts, she finally rang the doorbell. A moment passed, and the door opened. It was neither his parents, nor Taeyong.
Jaehyun stood there, with a worried look on his face. He had on a kitchen apron, and blinked at the shorter girl.
"Jaehyun?" She stood there with confusion all over her face.
"Hey, Jennie. I stopped by a while ago. He's upstairs in his bedroom. Are you sure you want to talk to him?"
Despite her brain and heart going 100 miles, she nodded. Jaehyun did not make it any easier on her, but she stepped inside. She stared up the staircase, wondering what she'd encounter. Jaehyun closed the door behind her.
"I'll be in the kitchen, making his dinner. Do you want any?"
She shook her head no.
"Where's his parents?"
"On a business trip for the week."
She nodded, and he headed into the kitchen to fix his dinner plate. Was he sick enough that he couldn't eat properly? She then felt bad she had doubt about him being sick. She climbed the staircase, and headed towards his bedroom.
The door was cracked open, and there was only his desk lamp light visible. She knocked on the door, before slowly making her way inside.
"Taeyong?"
She made it inside, and found him laying on his bed, facing down in his pillow. He looked up to see who had came inside, and his face turned into sudden shock. It was the same look he'd given her on Friday.
"Taeyong, what's wrong? Why.. haven't you been texting me back? You've got me all worried!" She suddenly exclaimed, the same way she talked to Joy that morning.
He said nothing, but he sat up in his bed, and faced her. She took this as a signal to keep trying to pry.
"Is this all about Joy? I know you're not sick. You look fine, besides the lack of sleep you've been having."
"You think I'd skip school, and lay in bed over someone I haven't even been dating for a week? I didn't even like her to begin with," his attitude switched into a big disbelief, as if it was ridiculous she had said that.
Jennie frowned and squinted her eyes at him.
"Then explain to me what the hell is going on! Why would you date her, if you didn't even like her? I know she's not the most interesting person, but that was a waste of her time too," She shot her hands into the air for emphasis, getting worked up like she's been doing all day. "If you would have talked to me like an adult, then I wouldn't have to jump to conclusions that are just so unbelievable to you."
