Birds chirping could be heard when Jennie first woke up. It was still a bit dark outside, but a hint of the sun slowly made its way up.
Jennie usually woke up a few minutes before her alarm rang, its just the way her body worked. She wished she could get in those extra minutes, but her body betrayed her.
She slowly made her way to sit up on her comfortable bed she always felt sad leaving in the morning. Her silk lavender sheets was the hardest part to say goodbye to. She saw a sleeping figure, right next to her baby doll, on the carpeted floor. She let out a shriek, since apparently he didn't leave her house.
He groggily woke up, and looked up at her with slited eyes. "What is it-"
"Why are you on the floor of my bedroom!? Why didn't you leave?" She tugged the covers of her bed closer to her as she did not 12 hours before.
"I was too tired, and my house is nearly 20 minutes away." He slowly got up, stretching. He noticed Jennie hiding herself and chuckled. "Why are you trying to hide? You have nothing, anyways."
Jennie slapped his chest in retaliation, offended he'd say something like that. He laughed at her reaction. "I'm just kidding, you are perfectly fine." He said with a suggestive hint in his voice. Jennie didn't know what was worse, his first or second comment. She raised her hand again and was stopped by her bedroom door swinging open.
In was her mom, who had probably been awake for awhile. Her eyes widened at the scene presented to her, a boy who had obviously stayed the night in her daughter's bedroom.
"Jennie, what is the meaning of this?"
"It's not what it looks like, Mom. He slept on the floor."
"I thought you would be heading home, Mr...." Mrs. Kim trailed off, not knowing his name at all.
"Lee."
Mrs. Kim stepped closer into the room, staring at his features. "Are you perhaps Taeyong?"
He nodded. All of a sudden, her eyes lit up. "I know your mother! Gosh, I had lost touch with her after I moved to New Zealand. Could you perhaps tell her I said hi and want to catch up again?"
Taeyong nodded, putting on a fake mask of innocence. Jennie gagged. Her mom had totally forgotten about the fact of being angry Jennie had a boy in her room. She shook her head.
"Jennie, breakfast is ready downstairs. Taeyong, you're welcome to eat here too if you'd like."
"Thanks, Mrs. Kim." Taeyong smiled, just as she left the room.
"Ugh, my mom is unbelievable." Jennie took the covers off her body. She was starving and had the need to freshen up.
Taeyong quickly glanced at what she wore to bed, which was a simple black tank and matching shorts.
"My beautiful wife," he mocked, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. She shoved him.
"Seriously?"
"Hey, Mrs. Nam says if we act like a married couple outside of class, it's extra credit."
"No extra amount of point is getting me to pretend we're happily married." She scoffed, opening the door. "Go eat some breakfast downstairs, I'll be down there soon."
Jennie sat bored at the counter at her parent's shop once again, with Hayi working on restocking the shelves. It was a nice autumn day, and they both yearned to be doing something else.
It was empty, just like yesterday. She couldn't exactly wiggle out of work like she planned to, but her mother and father were out yet again. She wish they hired more people. Resting behind the counter was Jessica, their baby daughter. They couldn't keep calling her "the baby" for long, so they settled over the basic name over breakfast. It was good the store had no customers, they didn't need to think Jennie was crazy for caring after a plastic doll.
