Amber POV
(This is a week later than her last POV and also Hayes's they were supposed to be on the same day just ya know different places. Next chapter its gonna be the same time as this one-a week later- but itll be Hayes in Afghanistan. I just felt the need to explain 😂)"Oh you're back." My loving older sister, Olivia, greets me when she swings open the door. Always nice to see her.
"So lovely to see you too." I say sweetly and she rolls her eyes and steps aside to let me walk in the house.
Im visiting home for a few weeks since it's the summer and now that I'm actually out of college I have the time to. Just a few weeks to catch up with the fam and relax in Houston before my real adult life starts.
I step into the familiar foyer and Connor follows behind me. He's staying down here with me for a week then he's going to Atlanta to visit his older sister. Even better, family and Connor. And it won't be awkward cause he's come home with me before, holidays and stuff.
Olivia's home because she lives in an apartment right near our house so she's literally always here. I'm more grown up than her god.
"Hey Olivia," Connor says to my sister nicely while slipping off his sneakers and setting them by the door.
"Hey, thank you for being a way better house guest than your sister." She responds smiling and looking at my still flip flopped feet on the ground.
Before I can come up with a better comeback my mom appears from around the corner, probably from the kitchen.
"Amber dear!" My mom exclaims, and I roll my eyes at the dear part.
"Hey mum." She pulls me in for a hug and I smile smelling my mom's perfume. I've visited home a few times during my college years but I'm just really happy I get to stay for a longer time.
"Connor, great to see you again." My mom says hugging Connor after me, him towering over her just as he does me.
"Thanks for having me." He says politely and I smile stupidly watching my boyfriend interact with my family. Im so happy right now.
"I was just working on dinner and your dad went to pick up the cake from the bakery." My mom informs Connor and I when everyone's done hugging and stuff.
"You ordered a cake?" I ask. She really does go all out.
"We just needed an excuse for a cake." Olivia says shrugging and staring at her phone, probably texting Will. Hayes's brother. Whatever.
"Cool. Connor and I need to unpack and stuff, I'm kind of tired from the drive." I tell my mom and Olivia snorts.
"It's a two hour drive." She mumbles underneath her breath, obviously seeing through my excuse to escape with Connor. We've been here five minutes and she's already irritating me.
"Of course, dinner should be ready in an hour though. And make sure to show Connor his room." My mom says raising her eyebrows at me making my eyes roll yet again. I'm literally 22 and my mom won't let me sleep in the same room as my boyfriend. Well I guess I kinda get it but still I'm annoyed.
"Fine." I answer abruptly and start up the stairs with Connor behind me holding his duffle. We reach the second floor where my room and the guest rooms are.
"You can have the room next to mine, you've stayed there before right?" I ask him.
"Yup, too bad theres a wall between our rooms." He responds and I laugh before walking into my room and throwing my bag on the floor.
Connor also walks into the room next to mine to get his stuff settled and I walk around my old room just reminiscing over those high school days. The walls are painted a deep red which I wanted really badly when I was 13 and my mom put up a huge fight because she said it looked like blood. But I ended up getting the blood walls anyway.
