9 years and 9 months later
Amber POV
I flip all of the pancakes, while frying the bacon in the next pan. Super mom much?
"Kids wake up!" I yell, hoping they've gotten up because we're only one late away from the limit. Unfortunately, my kids like to sleep, just like me.
"Morning babe." Cam says walking down the stairs in a suit and tie as usual and comes to give me a peck on the lips.
"Good morning." I greet him sliding the pancakes onto a plate, and creating three more circles of batter on the pan. "Please tell me they're awake."
He shakes his head. "Amb, they don't have school today." He says laughing as he pours himself a cup of coffee.
"What? Why?"
"Teacher inservice."
"Completely forgot." I say sighing and he wraps his arms around my waist.
"I can tell." I roll my eyes at him and he grins. "Now we can have a nice breakfast alone then." Cam whispers in my ear.
"Ew, no."
"Shut up, you love me."
"Fix my coffee?" I ask preparing the two of us plates of pancakes, bacon, and eggs. He nods and makes another cup, pouring in the cream and sugar I like.
"This isn't even coffee." Cam informs me laughing at the amount of cream and sugar I always wanted.
"That's why I like it." I say grabbing the mug and taking a sip. I can barely taste the coffee, it's just creamy and delicious. "Thank you." He gives me a smile before grabbing the plates of food and setting them on the table.
I join him at the table and immediately bite into a strip of bacon.
"Attractive." He comments.
"You think I don't know?" I ask as I finish it off. "What's going on at work today?"
"Not much." Cam says cutting his pancakes with his fork before shoveling them into his mouth. "I'm probably going to get a basketball hoop for my office, so that's exciting."
I shake my head. "Do you even do work?"
"Babe, you know I run the place." He reminds me grinning cockily and I just laugh. "How bout at home, what do you have planned?"
"Well, I was planning to have a day of rest after yesterday-"
"I'm finding those darts everywhere." He interrupts. For his tenth birthday, Kalin had requested 15 of his best friends and a nerf gun war. And being the best parents in the world, Cam and I had agreed. Little did we know that it would turn out to be a tiny preview of hell.
"You're not the one who had to clean up them are you?" I ask and he shrugs. "Anyways, now that they don't have school, I'm thinking that won't happen."
"You know they're going to sleep the day away."
"I know." I say. "I just wish I could too."
