Amber POV
A week after Olivia and her great intervention, I'm sitting with her and Will at Steak N Shake. Since their visit, I'm far from being over the Hayes thing, but I have started to get out more and see other people besides Kalin.
"So," I say taking a sip of my shake.
"So," Will says taking a bite of his burger.
"So," Olivia says stuffing a fry in her mouth.
"I want to go visit him." I announce randomly.
"What?" Olivia asks.
"In jail. I want to go visit him." I shrug. I don't know why I hadn't considered it earlier, probably because I thought I'd be a pile of tears if I saw him again. Plus I was kind of scared to go to a jail. And I kind of still am.
"Are you sure?" Will asks.
"Why wouldn't I be?"
He shrugs. "It doesn't seem like the best thing to do right now."
"What why?" I ask immediately.
"I agree." Olivia says. "Bad idea."
"Hi um, what's the problem with me seeing my fiance?"
"Amber dear, I don't want you to take this the wrong way." Olivia says reaching her hand out across the table to rest it on mine and I quickly smack it and take a bite of one of my sliders. "But you are not in the best mental shape to do that."
"Are you calling me crazy or something?"
"No, well you are, but-"
Will holds up his hand and gives her an I'll take it from here look. She rolls her eyes and he continues. "I think what your sister is trying to say is that you just got back out there since the whole "incident." If you went to visit him, you'd be right back where we started. And we don't want you to see Hayes like that then have that break your heart again."
I furrow my eyebrows. "You're expecting me to not see him ever?"
"Well when you put it like that it sounds evil." He says. "But seeing him would be too much."
"Besides, he's in jail for 10 years. You're going to have to move on." Olivia cuts in.
I take a sip of my shake trying to process their words. "I love him." I remind her as if it's not the most obvious thing in the world. "What would you do if I told you that Will is just going to go away for 10 years and you need to get up and move on?"
"If that were what's best for me." She responds shrugging.
"And how do you know that's best for me?'
"Amber, you're not going to be able to move on. You're going to keep visiting him in jail and not go on with your life cause your tied down to him."
"That's bullshit."
"It's what he would want for you."
Hayes POV
"Grier, you have a visitor." An officer says a week later, coming to Jack and I's cell. It's not too early in the morning, probably around 9ish and I had just been laying in my bed thinking. In jail I had started going to bed pretty early and waking up pretty early.
