Hayes POV
1 hour.
2 hours.
How long is God going to test my patience right now. It's still the same five of us in the waiting room, Amber's parents not responding to any of Olivia's messages. Even though Amber has already give up on them, we still thought we should let them know.
None of us have spoken in the past hour, we're all pretty much buried in our own thoughts. Well I know I am.
"Are you guys all here for Amber Rhodes?" A nurse asks shaking me out of the burying of myself inside my head.
"Yes!" I almost shout standing up and the others heads' jolt up as well.
"Family members follow me." I immediately follow the nurse, fiancés should count. Olivia also gets up and turns to Will who also gets up. I mean they were pretty close to getting married so he's basically Amber's brother n law.
"And who's the dad?" The nurse asks.
I step forward and she nods. "Well I have exciting news," She says. "You are now the father of a healthy baby boy."
A grin immediately appears on my face as I see Amber smiling back at me, a blue bundle in her arms.
"Hey Hayes?" Amber says when she sees me.
"Yes Amber?" I ask trying not to laugh and cry at the same time.
"Come look at our baby." I make my way over to her hospital bed and peer down at the bundle in her arms.
I see a tiny baby boy, red faced and moving around a lot kicking his little arms and legs trying to escape the bundle and I laugh seeing the product of Amber and I right in her arms.
"Hayes look at his eyes." Amber whispers giggling.
I see our baby has the brightest blue eyes I've ever seen on a baby, brighter than mine, Nash's, anyone's.
"Oh my gosh." I gasp.
"Well I guess your DNA was a little beneficial in this process." She says sighing and I roll my eyes. Somehow, Amber Elizabeth Rhodes still manages to be sarcastic. In a hospital bed. Holding our first born child.
"Can I hold him?"
"Duh." She says handing him to me and I grab the bundle holding him in my arms, surprised by how light he is.
"Only 4 pounds 8 ounces, premature and very lucky that he's alive and healthy." The nurse says coming into the room followed by Olivia, Will, Cam, and Lia. They all come over to me to marvel over the baby and eventually head to Amber to check on her. Cam stands by me and chuckles.
Again, I've failed to remember how Cam must feel right now. He was in the same position as me a few months ago but now I've escaped the nightmare with my healthy girlfriend and baby while he wasn't as lucky.
"He's adorable, definitely has your eyes." He says chuckling and I grin.
"Wanna be the god father?" I ask.
"Well yes duh of course." He says.
"Aye Amber?" I ask as I walk back over to her and hand her her son.
"Yea?"
"We kinda need a name." As you may know, Amber and I are both pro procrastinators and we weren't expecting this baby for another two months. Considering this and the fact that we didn't know the sex of the baby we really didn't discuss any name options up until now.
